52 NC Performing Arts students participated in Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812.
To say that their dedication to this show was amazing would be an understatement.
Actors studied Russian literature, read War and Peace, and researched the actual Great Comet of 1811 (which is the year it really happened). All on top of learning dances, songs, heavy blocking, and new ways to perform.
Musicians had to play a two hour concert over and over with no break in between each song. They couldn’t rest or not be on their game the whole time because they were in playing mode for 125 minutes straight.
Crew ran around helping with quick changes, fixing pants, changing batteries in mic packs, locating costumes, running multiple mics with terrible feedback, running over 325 light cues, and keeping the show running.
These students are nothing short of MAGICAL, much like our show. It’s truly wonderful seeing what high schoolers can achieve together.
This show truly hit all of us deeply and it will be one that we are sad to let go. But the memories, friends, and absolute dedication, and devotion will stay with us forever.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to our ever supportive community. Your kind words about this show made it all worth it. Thank you for allowing us to tell this story. 💫
