Perspective on where our heart and mind are at during all of this.
We've remained silent biding our time waiting out the Covid Pandemic to see if and when we will be able to resume bringing you our brand of events. However in light of recent events, and civil unrest consuming the world, I feel it is a good time to lend our voice to this platform of 2000+ followers.
I came into the tail end of the 90's rave scene. The scene back then we HUGE on social movements. Entire platforms revolving around Gay rights and Equality for all were a mainstay. The principles of PLUR were built around INCLUSION.
PEACE
LOVE
UNITY
RESPECT
It all seems like a utopian dream in hindsight in today's political climate. But it was real, it was doable. I'd like to think it still is.
Me and those close to me I call family mostly stem from the social circles that formed thru the shows we've attended, played or produced. We've spent years in Spokane forming alliances and welcoming those of similar needs into our vision.
The music brought us all together and let us meet people from all walks of life, it gave those with no hope a place to call home. It gave those living in turmoil connections to escape and find home.
We've given time and time again, we've opened our doors, lent our beds, and fed those who needed it. We are but a few serving the many in what small ways we can. But this is bigger than us. We urge everyone to help how they can. Donate where they can. March when they can. Peacefully Protest when they can.
As of the past few days, we've been on the front lines in our city to be seen and heard during the event organized by Occupy Spokane, we've been tear gassed trying to lend aide to those who were injured and bleeding from rubber bullets shot by those who claim to "protect and serve" all we wanted to do was to echo those voices around us that this violence is unjust.
On your journey to find your home, find your voice or purpose, or find your family, we're here for you.
All we want to see is a world where we are all equal, and judged not by our surface appearance, but our energy within.
Black Lives Matter.
If you wish to argue, it's unwelcome, it's unnecessary, and you really need to soulsearch if your first instinct is to "yeah but" about this subject.
We are not here to pander to the widest audience possible, we know exactly what we're about.
Hopefully we will see all of you under better circumstances before the year is over. If not, we appreciate every one of you who have supported this vision for not only us, but those we call our family.
Thank you
