So, sad to say, Jamie’s Aquatic world is closed officially.

I’m still in the hobby on the personal level. I still have the resources and knowledge to answer questions anyone might have. If I can help, I’m happy to do so, but I’m not keeping rescue tanks at this time. I have too much going on and can not maintain an entire fish room.

I will still take in goldfish since that is probably the greatest need for aquatic rescues.

If you need to reach me for either questions or goldfish surrender, it would be best to contact me on my personal page linked in the comments.

I need to move my 2 special needs axolotls upstairs from my basement back to the fish room. The reason they were moved downstairs to begin with is because it was impossible to keep the water temp low enough during the summer months with all of the tropical tanks in the same room. That room is the only area of the house without ac. In order to move them up I need to invest in 2 chillers units at close $300 each.

1. We need to remodel our basement.
2. Maintenance for me is much easier up I. The fish room.
3. I have considered putting them up for adoption but just can’t do it because I made a vow to get them healthy and keep them that way. I don’t believe these two should be put up for adoption.

I have many aquariums I am not using anymore starting at 29 gallons and up to 55. I plan on relocating the axolotls from their current 40 breeders to 75 gallons each that are already established upstairs. Once they are moved their original 40 breeder tanks will also be available.

I’m going to go ahead and move them while it’s still cold, but I will need the chillers before May- June.

Skyscraper in the goldfish pond for better viewing of the fish. All of the goldfish have already spent time in there except Tuna, the 14” white Commet goldfish.

Due to my own increasing complicated health issues, I’ve had to take some time to decide how to proceed from here concerning the of running the rescue.

I’ve considered throwing in the towel completely, but that idea devastates me and I don’t think that’s where I’m at at this point. I do need to downsize though. I won’t be selling off the tanks I currently have, I will be putting a couple of tanks in storage for easy access in case I need them in the future.

I will be limiting my intake though by quite a bit. No more African cichlids as they are the most maintainance. I would like to adopt out the 20 or so mbunas I currently have left.

I will have pretty much unlimited space for community fish as most of the tanks up and running are planted community (easiest maintenance)

I can take in a far amount of fancy goldfish also in my 300 gallon indoor pond. Sorry but I won’t be putting comet goldfish in there as they belong in much bigger outdoor ponds. I’m also out of space for common plecos as I already have 3 large common plecos and 1 sailfin pleco in my goldfish pond now. Any other type of pleco I have space for though.

If you are looking to adopt, just ask and I will let you know but currently all I have is African cichlids and a couple of female traditional bristle nose plecos. I have a few tetras too.

Winston, my deaf and sight impaired (he is quite near sided) just discovered Beefcake the axolotl for the first time. I’m pretty sure he is more confused than anything. He likes to lay on the fish room floor whenever I’m working in there and he happened to lay near her which is how he saw her for the first time. I’m pretty sure his reaction was “what the F@$k is that thing?” And I’m pretty sure Beefcake, who came right up to his face, was thinking the exact same thing!

(This isn’t her normal tank). This is a spare 55 gallon that I am temporarily using to hold her while I take the sand out of her 40 gallon breeder tank that is in the lower level of our house, our two axolotls don’t live in the fish room normally because it gets too warm in there in the summer, they live in our finished basement in the family room where it stays cool year round.

So, I apologize I have not posted or updated the page in awhile. My family has dealt with Covid plus other viral yuck brought home from public schools, a trip via ambulance to the ER for me because of extremely low BP and severe anemia (still working on cause, seeing a he otolaryngologist next week) in addition to my normal physical struggles of my day to day limitations due to my personal health issues. My total overhaul of the fish room is almost done though and as soon as it is I will post pictures and a video to show it off. I had to hire help to do the bulk of it because I simply could not. I just need to finish up the details as soon as I have enough stored up spoons to do so (spoon theory, a good read on google.

I haven’t had much coming in lately since I have had to empty most of my tanks for the remodel and I’m slowly putting them back together. Fortunately I never stopped running any of my filters, I moved them to tanks that were not being moved to keep them established so the tanks will be cycled at warp speed.

I do spend a lot of time resting since my low BP episodes and anemia are still an issue and I do get quite weak at times, so in the meantime, if anyone would like me to write an article about an aquatic subject they would like more information on please leave suggestions on this post, I’d love the assignment!

Please stick with freshwater as I’m useless with saltwater. But if you are interested in learning about saltwater I will share a page for you to ask any questions you have that have very knowledgeable group experts.

These are some pictures of what is complete in the fish room.
The 300 gallon goldfish pond (still working on more details on/ in the pond)
The 125 gallon African cichlids tank known as Davie’s Locker, it got taken apart and moved to a new location in the room.
The 125 gallon South American cichlids tank. (they were waiting for their upgrade and got the spare 125 after the goldfish were moved

There might be a water contamination…. I think the pups have swim bladder disfunction they both keep flipping upside down as soon as I look at them.
