Five and a half years ago, in December 2020, our lives changed forever when I was diagnosed with cancer. During one of the most difficult times our family has ever faced, we were overwhelmed by the love, generosity, and support we received. Friends, family, and even complete strangers came together to donate more than $8,700 to help us through those uncertain days. Still blows my mind! We will never be able to fully express how grateful we are. Your kindness carried us through some of our darkest moments and gave us hope when we needed it most.
Over the last 5½ years, life has continued to bring challenges. Monthly cancer center visits, octreotide injections, bloodwork, PET scans, CT scans, etc. I lost my job during COVID and was approved for disability in late 2021. Since then, Erin has returned to work, and together we've done everything we can to make ends meet while navigating the financial and emotional toll that comes with living with cancer.
Unfortunately, we've reached another difficult chapter. My cancer has continued to spread, and my doctors have recommended an intensive treatment program over the next four months. While we remain hopeful, these treatments come with significant costs that place an additional burden on our family. Potential out of pocket costs could be up to $52,000 after insurance covers their part.
After much thought and prayer, we've decided to reopen our GoFundMe. Asking for help is never easy, but we know we can't do this alone. Whether you're able to donate, share our fundraiser, or simply keep us in your thoughts, every act of kindness makes a difference.
Thank you for continuing to stand beside us. Your support means more than words can express.
