Gunther Schuller, a world-renowned conductor, composer, author and educator based in Boston was invited to serve as Artistic Director of the Bach Festival in 1992 and presented his first Festival in 1993. Schuller is recipient of numerous international awards includi
ng the 1994 Pulitzer Prize for Music and a 1991 MacArthur Foundation Genius Award. He is one of only a few musicians to be inducted during his lifetime into the Classical Music Hall of Fame and was recently named a Living Legend by the Library of Congress. Under his direction the Bach Festival is gaining a reputation as one of the finest Bach festivals in the country. MOZART ON A SUMMER'S EVE CONCERTS
The Mozart On A Summer's Eve concerts are under the artistic direction of Verne Windham, an award-winning professional musician and KPBX Public Radio's Program Director. The concerts are held in one of Spokane's most beautiful public outdoor settings, Manito Park. The Mozart concerts are appealing to those just beginning to hear classical forms of music while still satisfying to more seasoned listeners. The garden setting is intimate and pleasant, and the Mozart concerts are considered a true celebration of summertime in Spokane, friendliness, community and beauty.
