Here we go folks! Last show of the year here at Apple Atcha! *Of course there is our weekly thursday jam/open mic which starts at 7:30. THIS SAT DEC 6: Three fine acts in one evening!
First up is DC area duo 'BAD DOG'-they(Craig Blackwell and David Post) feature roots/blues-oriented originals that will fit the mill and this bill well! They play from 6:30-7:15
Next is our ever-shifting house band THORNTON REVIVAL. Ever changing in its lineup and also its diverse focus. The band has thus far always featured Pat Cavanuagh(of Jumpin Jupiter and Danny Gatton fame) and folklorist John Hallberg. This version also has Brenda Jeffries on Stand-up bass and vocals and Wayne Turner on Mandolin. They are from roughly 7:30-8:15 and feature both traditional folk and other songs of lore as well as free form prog/space-type music. Eclectic for sure. What will they do this time??
THEN our headliner: We are pleased to welcome THE WILSON SPRINGS HOTEL to Sperryville! They are based in Richmond but have members from all corners of the state. They are also an eclectic unit but have started to make a name for themselves with high-energy danceable music in the 'folk/country' catagory. Sounds perfect for our little stage that has welcomed Larry Keel, Furnace Mountain and others! They will start around 8:30. Admission is $20. You may reserve tix by calling 540 423 8717. 3:30 Playing in 'Non-dulcimer Keys'
5:00 Hammer-on and Pull-offs: Basics and Beyond
*Workshops are $20 per person or $30 for both sessions.

Our house band, which can vary in its members, is called THORNTON and usually features dulcimer as well as the guitar playing of Pat Cavanaugh(of Danny Gatton fame) They will do a short set THEN

FURNACE MOUNTAIN with DANNY KNICELY starting around 8:30

So this coming Friday the 7th is an impromptu show with Forest Edge from Manassas-it's a pay as you like show(as much or little) They play Americana and jam-type music and should be a lot of fun! 7:30-?

NEXT Fri(the 14th) We have Dark Moon Hollow from Lexington Ky! If you love Larry Keel you'll undoubtedly enjoy the jamgrass style of DMH! Sperryville's 'Thornton' will play a few tunes before the guys take the stage. Also another surprise announcement about the night is in the works-check back!

Full Day!
Will post full deets but the museum opens just after 12 with folklorists Kendra Ward and Bob Bence talking about dulcimers Pre and Post 'Folk Revival Era'.
The museum will be open till 6 but from 1-2 you can tour the museum with our panel of experts weighing-in on various topics and instruments.

If you are a PLAYER there are 2 workshops during the day! From 2-3:30 Don Pedi will teach 'Old Time and Fiddle tunes' and from 4-5:30 Kendra Ward with teach 'Traditional Tunes and Tunings'.

A Pop-Up surprise chef will be here for dinner. He is a known Sperryville talent..

Hey Hey, fall and early winter is shaping up for shows! THIS sat (oct 5) is an interesting jam with BEN MASON and Friends! Our house band is undergoing some changes and will try some new material beforehand! Show starts at 7:30 and goes till 10:30 or so..$10 donation encouraged. *possible appearances by Pat Cavanaugh and others!
THEN as the rumor has it..THE APPALACHIAN DULCIMER MUSEUM Opens on Nov 9. Deets involving players and times tba!

So I don't frequently use this danged 'meta'(said in a mocking fashion) site. I usually use my personal one because it's hella easier than here. But THIS requires a posting..for folks that might not be my friend on fb. Take note-FUN WILL BE HAD. Also FOOD will be had. both TODAY(May 25th 2-8) and for the Keel show B&C Food Factory will make yummy food for you to have a cider with!
