Today is Shred Day at Sundance State Bank, and our pop-up art exhibit is officially installed! 🎨✨

Community members can bring their paper to Sundance State Bank in Spearfish today and have it shredded for FREE.

While you’re there, take a minute to check out the art! Our pop-up exhibit will be on display through September 30, and these pieces truly brighten up this beautiful bank. We hope they bring a little joy and inspiration to everyone who walks through the doors.

Stop by, get your shredding done, and enjoy some local art while you’re there!

🚨 November Bellman Presentation Announcement! 🚨 This is one you won’t want to miss.

Meet Mai Richards, a Spearfish native and Vietnamese adoptee who has always believed that the opportunities we’re given come with a responsibility to give back.

What began as a single 22-mile Memorial Day run to honor America’s fallen grew into a journey of remembrance, service, and giving back. In Love and Sacrifice: The Journey of Running with Purpose, Mai Richards shares the story behind her annual Memorial Day Honor Run and the creation of Miles of Honor, a 450-mile run across South Dakota in May 2026.

Through stories of the fallen heroes she carried with her, the veterans and communities she met along the way, and the experiences that shaped her own understanding of sacrifice, Mai explores how love can inspire service, how gratitude can become action, and how each of us can use what we have to make a difference.

We’re so grateful to have Mai joining us for our lunch & learn series! Join us from noon to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 11th to hear her story.

And remember, bring your own bite to eat! 🍴

Join us today at noon for a presentation on Spearfish Museum!

Bring your lunch. Feed your mind. Join the conversation. The Bellman Brown Bag Series is back next week from Noon to 1PM.

We have a quick schedule update: the September 9 presenter has changed. We’re excited to welcome Rosalie Aslesen and Johanna Meier Della Vecchia, who will now present “A Presentation on the Spearfish Museum”

What stories should a Spearfish Museum tell? And what role could it play in our community?

Rosalie and Johanna will share their vision for a future Spearfish Museum, exploring its mission, community significance, and potential to preserve and celebrate the historic, cultural, and innovative spirit of Spearfish and its people.

And, honestly, the timing is pretty cool. We’re also partnering with the Spearfish Museum for Brushes & History: Plein Air Paint Out on September 20, so this is a great chance to learn more about the museum and the stories behind the place we call home before celebrating them through art.

Up Next: Ghost Stories by the Black Hills Story Tellers - Oct 14th

The Bellman Brown Bag Series is a monthly humanities program exploring ideas, history, literature, art, and culture.

It’s been a scary couple of days here in Spearfish.

If you don’t know, one of the peaks that makes up our Queen City, Lookout Mountain, has been on fire. First responders have been working tirelessly and our community has come together in some truly incredible ways to support one another.

Thankfully, things are looking much better than they did yesterday, and we are incredibly grateful for the firefighters, emergency crews, donors, and everyone who has worked so hard to keep our community safe.

We live in such a beautiful place, and we care deeply about the people who call it home. Our hearts are with the families who have been impacted, and we’re so grateful to see our community showing up for its neighbors.

Thanks for sharing your art with us, Jesse Brown Nelson Photography.
