It’s difficult to see all those numbers. My stash is in a big box in my office. I can’t wait to relive the memories with each project and utilize all the goodies accumulated along the way. We have made some wonderful fiber friends and have had some good times and meals. The journey is over for this summer but I’m sure we have many more long hours in the car ahead of us for other adventures. 🤗

Dynamic duo is at it again!! Me and Alpacas & Ewe Luxury Fibers got our last stamp for the PA Yarn Quest. We were almost miserably disappointed when we weren’t able to find Lippencott Alpacas at the Covered Bridge Festival due to the weather, but the graciously opened the shop for us and let us cuddle with some new baby crias. It was worth the wait.

Some designs stay with us.

As I was creating this felted hat, I found myself returning to one of the very first hats I ever made. The original featured a simple bare tree. I was reminded of a conversation from years ago.
At a show, I met Laura of The Copper Twig . She noticed the tree design and shared that it reminded her of an upcoming trip to Iceland later that year. I remember admiring her beautiful tree-inspired prints and earthy jewelry, and feeling an instant connection through our shared appreciation of nature’s quiet beauty. All these years later, we still enjoy catching up whenever our paths cross at a show.
This new hat carries that memory forward. Built on an alpaca-merino base and detailed with fibers and yarns collected along the payarnquest , it feels like a gathering of stories, friendships, and places that continue to inspire my work.
Sometimes a design is more than a design. It’s a reminder of where we’ve been, the people we’ve met along the way, and how those connections become woven into everything we create.

This hat did not turn out how I had originally planned and after I got going, I didn’t like my idea so I ended up cutting an entire section out and fixing it to come up with this finished piece. I like it so much better. Sometimes you have to change plans and do what the fiber tells you to do.

Stopped in at the Warren County Library to see the Barber National Institute display of my students work. I taught a needle felting course back in February as a reaching artist through Erie Arts and Culture. Working with these adults was extremely rewarding and helped me to broaden my teaching skill sets to accommodate adults with disabilities. At the end of the course, I felt honored and blessed to have the experience.
