Grateful to attend the Bullets and Bandaids exhibit at the Spartanburg County Foundation in partnership with Warriors Once Again.

Veterans’ stories were brought to life through art, turning memories, grief, pride, pain, and healing into something visible and deeply human. Some things are hard to say out loud, but somehow art finds a way to say them anyway.

Grateful to meet founder of Bullets and Bandaids Robert LeHeup, a Marine Corps combat veteran whose vision is helping veterans transform their stories into connection, understanding, and healing.

Today’s Healing in Bloom question was, “What are you hoping to grow more within yourself this year?” 🌱

Some answers included slowing down, contentment, making more time for family, and learning to let go, just to name a few.

It was such a beautiful experience watching families and children paint their flower pots, plant seeds, and simply be together. Moments like these are what Healistry is all about.

One of the most meaningful moments for us was when a gentleman shared, “After painting, I feel like I was worth something again, and I haven’t felt that way in a long time”.

That right there is why Healistry exists 💛

The community canvas began with one simple question: What does healing mean to you?

What followed was beautiful. People answered not with speeches, but with color, symbols, words, and feeling. Each brushstroke became a personal reflection of hope, peace, faith, growth, love, renewal, and resilience.

No two responses were the same, yet together they created one powerful picture. A reminder that healing looks different for everyone, and every journey deserves space to be expressed.

What started as a blank canvas became a living reflection of many hearts in one room. That is the beauty of community. 🧡💙💛

Healistry’s first event, The First Canvas, was a beautiful reminder of what can happen when people gather with openness, creativity, and community spirit.

Together, we painted, connected, reflected, and created something bigger than art alone. We created space for joy, healing, conversation, and meaningful human connection.
