What happens when 30+ of the region’s top musicians take over the Palmer Park Bandshell? 🎺

We’re about to find out.

On September 13, DCWS kicks off its 45th season with our largest performance ever, bringing more than 30 professional musicians together for a free outdoor concert at one of Detroit’s newest performance spaces.

Led by conductor Damien Crutcher and featuring Timothy McAllister on saxophone and Kenneth Thompkins on trombone, this is DCWS on a scale you don’t often get to hear.

And did we mention it’s FREE?

RSVP in advance and you could also score a free DCWS hat! The first 250 RSVPs receive a voucher, redeemable at the event while supplies last.

JazzEd Detroit brings together five organizations providing jazz education programs to network, organize, and work together in collective ways that serve young people in learning jazz. ArtOps continues to lead the JazzEd Detroit initiative, helping to preserve Detroit’s collaborative tradition of mentorship in the art form.

We are proud to support this important cultural tradition with two grants totaling $181,000 to Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings to support ArtOps in leading the JazzEd Detroit initiative and to support the Carr Center’s Gathering Orchestra program.
