The Name

The Robert E. Lee Auditorium is named after former Moore County Schools Superintendent Robert E. Lee, who served from 1959 to 1985, and oversaw the racial integration of the schools throughout the 1960s as well as the consolidation and merger of several schools resulting in the opening of Pinecrest High School in 1969. He is highly regarded for his work during integration.

The Robert E. Lee Auditorium is an auditorium and community facility, housing a full time orchestra, band, choir, and theatre arts programs. The auditorium is the largest in the area seating 1300 and serves as a host to such community and state organizations as the NC Symphony, Golf Capitol Chorus, Taylor Dance, Moore Choral Society, and many others. It is located on the campus of Pinecrest High School in Southern Pines, NC. It is just minutes from the surrounding towns of Aberdeen and Pinehurst.
