Book Review: “The Goldfinch” by Donna Tartt

Donna Tartt’s “The Goldfinch” envelops readers in a rich tapestry of prose, immersing them in the world of protagonist Theo. The depth of Theo’s character and his friendship with Boris resonated with me throughout the narrative. Personally, I felt the first half of the book dazzles with its detail, but the latter portion was overly drawn out. However, the heartfelt ending redeems the slower pace.

Best line: “A great sorrow, and one that I am only beginning to understand: we don’t get to choose our own hearts. We can’t make ourselves want what’s good for us or what’s good for other people. We don’t get to choose the people we are.”

Overall, “The Goldfinch” was worth experiencing. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Next on the list: Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë
