St. Mark's Musical Theater Club

St. Mark's Musical Theater Club A student run club that stages a musical every year at St. Mark's School. All students can participate without having to sacrifice other commitments.

In the winter of 2014, a group of six passionate students banded together to produce a student run musical at St. Mark’s School. With musical theater not being offered in the curriculum in a school of mostly athletes, such an ambitious project for a small, self supported group of teenagers, had never attempted at the school. In April of 2015, the group staged the first musical on campus in over tw

enty years independently. Though it was thought impossible by most of the community, it was an unbelievable success, praised as among the most moving, fun-filled on-campus events of the year! The show gauged tons of student interest in participation. This is how we became the St. Mark’s School Musical Theater Club. The next year, a cast and crew of over twenty students joined the production; John August & Andrew Lippa’s Big Fish. In April of 2016, it was among the most attended, well received events of the year. Having now gauged immense student interest and having shocked the campus with the quality of independent student work, we are growing and thriving. We hope to use our success to inspire others in the community to take chances and leadership. Next year’s musical is still to be determined.
