We are super excited to have our board member Cindy Bithell as one of our presenters this evening!

Cindy has been a Salt Lake native since 2004.  She received her master’s of architecture from the University of Utah in 2010 and has been practicing ever since. Four years ago, she joined Atlas Architects where she remains happily employed. When she is not architecting, she is designing and making apparel and sewing patterns for home sewists. Her focus is on sustainable clothing design by means of minimal waste with unique construction methods for modern clothing. Her biggest life cheerleaders are her husband, daughter and 2 dogs.

Since the 1990s, there have emerged flourishing HEMA, "Historical European Martial Arts" communities in Europe, North America, Australia and the wider English-speaking world. These groups are engaged in attempting to reconstruct Historical European Martial Arts using various training methods.

Delon works at MHTN Architects as a BIM Specialist. Due to spending most of his work week sitting in front of a computer, Delon desired to have a physically engaging hobby to stay both fit and sane. He was discussing this with a co-worker who mentioned that he had heard of this thing called HEMA. Delon looked into this “HEMA” and discovered it stood for Historical European Martial Arts when he found the local clubs. Delon quickly fell in love with HEMA due in part to his love of medieval history. In the approximately four years he has been practicing HEMA, Delon has participated in three local tournaments and three national tournaments, all but one as a competitor. For the last six months he has also been teaching at his local HEMA club. When not practicing HEMA Delon enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters as well as waxing his mustache.

Please join us at artXarc Fall Event to see hear Mojdeh talk about her sources of inspiration for her art.

Mojdeh Azani is an architectural designer and artist living in Salt Lake City Utah. She graduated with her master’s degree from University of Utah in 2018.  Since she was a child, she was either painting or playing with Lego and that carried out throughout the years. she has experience with different mediums such as acrylic, oil and charcoal but currently she does watercolor and digital illustrations. Born and raised in Iran some of her Artwork is inspired by what she has experienced in her country as a woman. That leads her to paint many portraits that reflects how she feels at different moments. Also, some of her work that are more fluid comes from what she does as an architect, in a profession that sometimes has rigidity and constraint, she escapes to watercolor by exploring and creating conceptual forms that expresses harmony in disorder.
If she is not designing or painting Mojdeh loves to travel with her partner, to explore museums and art galleries and appreciate beautiful art and architecture.

Last night Roger Waters of Pink Floyd graced us with art outside of architecture in Salt Lake City. The original 4 members of the band Pink Floyd dropped out of Architecture School at the University of Westminster in London to pursue their careers as musicians, claiming that there is more freedom in creating music. We encourage our local musicians that just happen to be in the architectural world to contact us if interested in presenting at our future events.
