The orchestra at Seton Hall University is a fun, supportive, and hard-working group of talented and driven individuals who, as a team, aspire to work together and have a great time making wonderful music. Currently in its 7th academic year of running, the orchestra has only grown larger and functions as a more prominent, influential, and exciting force as a part of the Seton Hall community. The SHU Orchestra performs an annual winter and spring concert at The South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC). As the music program continues to grow and develop, the orchestra looks to grow more involved with the community. You do not have to be a music major or music minor to join the orchestra. Members of the orchestra come from a wide variety of fields, including education, diplomacy, biology, psychology, and more! While every individual musician may be different in personality, style, and career-pursuit, we all share a common goal - to create and share beautiful classical music together. You can join the Seton Hall University Orchestra as an extra-curricular "club" member and/or you can take the organization for class credit towards a music major, minor, or core curriculum arts requirement. We welcome all string, woodwind, brass, and percussion musicians. The orchestra is comprised of a wide range of musical skill levels. There is an audition process for seating; however, anyone who knows how to play can join.
