Rediscovering Beauty: Everyday Wonders on Campus

Curatorial Statement

In a world rushing past its own wonders, these paintings invite viewers to pause and rediscover beauty in the overlooked. Through bold outlines, luminous hues, and dynamic compositions, Shelly Rosenquist transforms familiar campus objects and hidden details into extraordinary visual experiences.

From coffee cups and backpacks to headphones and eventually a cap & gown, each painting amplifies the ordinary, weaving rhythm and surprise into every piece. Together, the works create a dialogue between the seen and unseen, reminding us that beauty is not rare — it is everywhere, waiting to be noticed.

Last weekend was a busy one. Friday we went to a neighborhood block party to watch FIFA here in sponsored by AztecaRestaurantMKE and Moran's Pub, then headed to House of RAD, llc for their amazing in the new space. Saturday was Art Intersection MKE for their poetry jam and to check out the new murals and sculptures. Summerfest is fun too, but there's so many other things going on as well!

Look at this local cutie, Bella, who stopped in again with her dad to explore the Granzow/Rubinstein exhibition!

Young art lovers like Bella are one of the reasons we’re so grateful to have this gallery. There’s something special about seeing creativity through a child’s eyes. If more of us could reconnect with that sense of wonder, imagination, and curiosity we had when we were young, the world might be a kinder, more inspired place.

We got a sneak peek inside local artist Rozalia’s studio yesterday, where she’s putting the finishing touches on a massive mural project that will eventually span 18 panels. The scale, detail, and craftsmanship are absolutely stunning.
