🏕️ We are looking for Volunteer Camp Hosts! 🏕️

As the opening of the campground gets closer, we are fine-tuning our operations. After many wonderful years (we won't say exactly how many 😉), one of our long-time camp hosts is moving on to bigger and better things. We will miss them dearly, but this means we find ourselves in need of new volunteer hosts to join our team! 🌲

Here is what the opportunity looks like:

⏰ The Schedule: Depending on the number of volunteers recruited, shifts will rotate around our contracted host's schedule of 5 days on / 5 days off, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

📋 The Duties: You will run the camper reservation system and assist guests with selling passes, firewood, and dump station access. Hosts also help maintain a clean contact station and ensure campsites are spotless for incoming guests.

🚐 The Perks: Volunteers willing to sign on for a 2-month commitment will receive a full hook-up site, including water, sewer, and 50-amp service!

If this sounds like the perfect fit for you, please reach out to us!

BEFORE we flooded we had recieved funding to widen the approach to Slason Bridge, (ya know the bridge that brings you to the South Side of the campground). That work has been completed for a hot minute, but with everything going on we totally forgot to share the great news!

So here are a couple of photos, thank you to those that reminded us to share the progress. We know it's not a lot to look at but we are so happy to have better access to the bridge!

📢 Winhall Brook Update! 📢

You’ve been asking, and we promised an update as soon as we had one to share. We can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, and our Park Rangers are ecstatic! 🏕️

👷 Construction Progress:
Our contractors have been hard at work this spring putting it all together. All the walls are up! Plumbing, electrical, and carpentry are in the final stages for both south-side bathrooms. The north side is slightly behind as we wait for the new concrete floors to cure before they can finish the flooring and install the fixtures.

🗓️ Target Opening:
Drum roll, please... 🥁 We are on track to completely open by the 4th of July! (This is pending any unforeseen issues that we won't know about until the water is turned on, so cross your fingers and toes! 🤞)

What’s Next?
We will likely be opening in stages. As each bathroom is completed, we will make the campsites in that area available for reservations. We will announce opening dates as soon as we have them. Thank you for your continued patience, and we can't wait to welcome you back! 🌲⛺

Let me preface this by saying we see you! 👀 Thank you for all the messages and comments about opening day. We're just as excited as you are! Our contractors are still working hard, so we can't take reservations just yet. We'll shout it from the treetops here as soon as our booking calendar is live!

Did you know our campground is a winter wonderland too? ❄️ When time and staffing allows we groom the West River Trail for cross-country skiing. We were thrilled to lay fresh tracks on Friday!

However, our hearts sank a bit Monday when we discovered damage to our brand new fruit trees and fire rings, and saw that our beautiful ski tracks had been destroyed. :(

To ensure everyone has a great time and the grounds stay in great shape, here are a couple of quick tips for winter visits:

Skiers: The groomed tracks are all yours! Enjoy the glide.

Walkers, Snowshoers and Snowmobilers: Please stay off the groomed ski tracks. Walking or riding on them creates deep holes that can be dangerous for skiers and ruins the trail.

Help Us Grow: Please be mindful of our new fruit trees and other campground equipment like fire rings, electric pedestals and hydrants. They're part of the improvements we're all looking forward to!

Let's all work together to keep the campground beautiful in every season!

We have had some (a lot) requests for an update of the progress of the bathhouse renovations. Our contractors have been very busy working through this Vermont weather! Each of the three bathhouses suffered varying degrees of damage and each has always had its own layout, meaning different work is constantly happening at the different buildings. The major new change will be the addition of two showers at each bathhouse!

We will not be opening reservations until construction is completely done. While we are cautiously optimistic, we all know what happens when you count your chickens before they hatch!

Here are a few photos from yesterday to show current construction status. All your Park Rangers are anxious to see you all again and hope you are doing well!
