Sierra Repertory Theatre mourns the passing of Russell Garrett, a gifted artist, cherished collaborator, and beloved friend.

For more than 20 years, Russell graced our stages with boundless talent, imagination, and heart. His artistry reached theatres across the nation, yet he always returned to us, making Sierra Rep a creative home and, in doing so, helping to shape a community filled with warmth and inspiration.

Russell’s impact extended far beyond the stage. He had a gift for connecting with artists, uplifting and encouraging everyone, and bringing laughter wherever he went. His generosity of spirit and infectious joy left a mark on everyone lucky enough to know him.

We celebrate the artistry, friendship, and unforgettable humor Russell brought into our lives. Our hearts are with his husband, Bill, and all who loved him. Russell’s light will continue to shine brightly in our memories, always. ♥️
