A fire on Monday night destroyed at least two family businesses in East Somerville, Rei Da Picanha and Damata Barbershop, and I am heartbroken for the owners and workers who built these places into part of our neighborhood. A GoFundMe has been set up for the family that owns Rei Da Picanha, and every contribution will help them get back on their feet.

Community Hero: Meghan Forsell 📚🧡

Meet Meghan Forsell, Children’s Librarian at the East Somerville Public Library!

Beyond helping young readers discover new books, Meghan leads weekly Wednesday Story Time, hosts Tween Craft Nights, helps kids with homework, and creates special programs like the library’s Stuffie Sleepover, complete with a recap of each stuffed animal’s overnight adventures. She also represents the library at neighborhood events, bringing its programs and resources into the community.
