Help us shape the next visual identity of East Somerville! ✨

East Somerville Main Streets is looking for a local artist or designer to create a new Visual Identity & Design Toolkit that reflects the energy, diversity, culture, and character of our neighborhood.

The selected artist/designer will help bring this identity to life through a logo, color palette, and core visual assets that will represent East Somerville across different spaces and communications.

Every building has a story, a memory, and a unique energy that transforms over time. ✨

For over two decades, 145 Broadway was the beloved home of Fasika, filling East Somerville with the rich aromas of Ethiopian spices. During that incredible chapter, the building underwent a major aesthetic evolution when its facade was beautifully updated through City of Somerville Storefront Improvement Program, breathing fresh life into Broadway's streetscape while preserving its community roots.

Today, that same structural energy continues to evolve. When El Jalisco Somerville stepped into the space, they built upon that foundation, infusing the building with even more vibrant colors, bold textures, and a lively new neighborhood spirit.

Buildings aren't static; they are living backdrops for culture, community, and continuous transformation. From East Africa to Jalisco, 145 Broadway keeps its welcoming soul alive! 🌮🇪🇹🎨

Gandhy is a dedicated volunteer coordinator with Padres Latinos and a passionate advocate for immigrant and underserved families in Somerville. Each year, she plays a key role in the Christmas toy drive, coordinating donations and pickups to help bring holiday joy to more than 600 families.

She also volunteers with the Connexion Closet, helping collect and transport clothing and essential items for families in need. Her generosity, positive energy, and commitment to supporting others make Gandhy a true Community Hero.

Did you know the story behind Symphony Park? 🎶🌳

Located between Florence and Pearl Streets, Symphony Park was created as a community green space with seating, gardening, and opportunities for small performances. But its name has a special connection to the neighborhood’s history.

The site was once home to Samuel Hadley and his family, known for their contributions to music and Somerville’s cultural life. When the park was designed, the community helped shape the vision, and musical elements were incorporated to honor that legacy.

Next time you visit Symphony Park, take a closer look, you’re visiting a little piece of East Somerville history. 💙
