This weekend, members of the Plymouth South Theatre Guild traveled to Somerville High School for the 2026 Massachusetts Thespians Festival to perform their festival one act: "I Never Saw Another Butterfly" by Celeste Raspanti. We're excited for, and proud of, the following company members who walked away with special awards:

One Act Awards:
Ashely Coveney, '26 for Excellent in Ensemble Choreography
Lily Menezes, '26 for Excellence in Sound Design
Brody Eberhardt, '26 for Excellence in Acting

Members of the guild also came home with Superior rankings for their performance in individual events, titled "Thespys". A Superior ranking automatically qualifies the students to participate at the National Festival in Louisville, Kentucky this summer!

Logan Ryan - Lighting Design, Superior Ranking
Lily Menezes - Sound Design, Superior Ranking

Last but not least, two of our members received a $100 scholarship check from Massachusetts Thespians for receiving the highest score for their category:

We're so proud of every student who participated this weekend and we're already looking forward to next year's festival!

This past weekend our students attended the International Thespian Society One Act Festival at Somerville High School. The festival is a full day of workshops, one act performances, and individually adjudicated monologues, scenes, and musical theatre songs.

A number of our students took home awards for costume design and acting performances for our one act, "The Miracle Year", written by former South ELA teacher Kathleen Evans.

It was a fantastic day and we're already looking forward to next year's festival!
