Hello friends! I am touched and flattered by how many of you have reached out to ask if I am okay after the terrible floods from Hurricane Helene.

I have been in Scotland during the whole ordeal. Several friends have checked on my house and there appears to be relatively little damage. The power was out for over a week and there is still no internet. Many of the roads seem to be passable now, but several others have been utterly destroyed.

Emergency volunteer groups in the area have been helping to distribute food, cut fallen trees, help their neighbors. Tryon wasn't as bad off as many surrounding areas. Those poor folks in towns all around me who lost their homes and livelihoods! The scope of the devastation is heartbreaking.

I send my best wishes to those who were not as lucky as I, and I hope they will be able to recover with the help of friends, neighbors, and State and Federal aid.
