My diptych is finished..yayy! Yayy indeed because each panel behaved so differently.
I had only one criteria in mind when I stated: create a diptych that can be connected narratively more than physically.
One piece would have an immensely large area to rest, on the quiet side, the other not. A visual connection would be hard to achieve but who doesn’t like a challenge.
I believe I achieved that and am very happy with the result.
You’ll be able to see the panels separately when you swipe. The right one came out very quickly, in spite of the incredible amount of layers. The left one, only one small area actually, took much longer.
I like displaying them with a 2” gap in between as one piece. They can also be separated. In fact they have different titles:
Left: Stop Telling Me
Right: Silenced
What are those messages, the unending yapping.. are they words within your head or are they coming from some outside sources?
Will you silence them? Or will they silence you?
Still no title together as a one piece. Do you have one perhaps?

I’m delighted to tell you my painting ‘Are We Broken?’ had been accepted into Altered States: Transformation in Art, latest exhibition.
The show is on view, you can see more information about the reception and the dates when you swipe.
Are We Broken? depicts an about to be broken family. But look, they are holding on, not only physically but it seems mentally as well. Who will keep them as one, who will mend the broken pieces, the patches?
I would like to mention that the separation of the two panels is very intentional.
I hope you will visit the exhibit and perhaps I’ll see you during the reception on Thursday, May 28th., 5:30-7:30pm.

A week before our Open Studios I went to Santa Fe, my first time in all these years.
It was an incredible trip full of education, full of Art. Visiting the George O’Keefe Museum and the Ghost Ranch was phenomenal. Not being able to see the inside of the ranch was a bit ☹️ for me. I wanted to breath where she did.
Our last night brought me an incredible surprise. I was blessed with a birthday song chanted by a native chef!
Life’s a blessing.

Not a painting. This is a photo I’d taken a while ago from my balcony.
Not only the mesmerizing colors but the swirling of the clouds stopped me on my track.
When looking back at it the other day I was one more time mesmerized.. this time by the composition I’d created unintentionally (or had I?).
Cover the light thru the window on the bottom left. See the difference? That spot of light, that high contrast in value moves our eyes around the painting -sorry the photo- and it makes it so complete!
