Plaid Productions A Cappella Production, Recording, Editing, and Mixing by Alex Green and Alexander Koutzoukis
http://

Plaid Productions is two people: Alex Green (located in Brooklyn, NY) and Alexander Koutzoukis (in Somerville, MA). We coincidentally both went to Tufts University for college, sang in occasionally-competing groups on campus (the Amalgamates and Beelzebubs, respectively), and eventually realized we loved music (specifically a cappella) enough to make a full time job of it. Since 2011, we have enjo

yed working with groups ranging from right at home at Tufts University, to High Point, NC and Centerville, OH, all the way to Singapore and Taiwan. Between producing these albums and occasional collaborations with friends and headlining acts at national festivals, our focus is always on creating the best musical experience we can for both performers and listeners alike.

The CARA nominees for 2022 are out and we worked on a total of FORTY-SIX nominees! 46! That's a big number, and ultimately reflective of the amazing talent we get the honor of working with year after year, including The Bristol Suspensions, Peter Hollens, Six13, OneVoice, Distilled Harmony, the Tufts University Beelzebubs, Doox of Yale, MICa****la, Upper Structure, the Tufts Jackson Jills, and so many more. While awards don't determine the value of art, it's always great to see recognition for all the hard work these groups put in, especially under such unusual and strenuous conditions these past couple years.

Congratulations to all the nominees and good luck to the groups (and judges!) through the rest of the process!

The following are the nominees for the 2022 Contemporary A ca****la Recording Awards. While our Plaid internet presence says we've been off the map for most of the last year -- I promise we're not just hiding because we haven't finished the last tracks, I'm sad about it too though -- we've been immersed in more music than we can even manage to keep up with. And so we just wanted to take a moment to recognize and say thank you to the groups whose music we worked on this year who've been recognized with a total of 31 CARA nominations!

This list certainly doesn't include everybody we came in contact with, and some music from last year has yet to be released (plus we hope we haven't forgotten anybody while looking through the list!), but we love all of you equally and are proud of everything you put out into the world, so congratulations to BisCaydence, Distilled Harmony, MICa****la, MIT Muses, Duke Out Of The Blue, The Harvard Opportunes, OneVoice, Six13, Six Appeal, and The Boston University Treblemakers.

Congratulations of course to all the other groups and individuals involved, and you can take a look at the complete list here: https://casa.org/2020-contemporary-a-ca****la-recording-awards-nominees/

We can confirm both that these humans 1) love this album and 2) have That Rhythm.

Upper Structure just released their newest album, Second Wind, and working on it was some of the most fun we've had in a while. Follow the link to their profile or find it on your preferred streaming platform!

(recorded, edited, mixed by Alex Green and Alexander Koutzoukis, produced by us with Evan Lee, Kayla Liquori and the rest of Upper Structure, mastered by Dave Sperandio for Vocal Mastering)

At the beginning of this summer, Alex took a train out to his old haunts on Long Island to work with Sigma'ca****la on recording their jazzy, groovy interpretation of this Radiohead classic. Patty Alzaibak's take on this lead vocal was incredible to start with, and it's artists like her and the rest of the group that make creating music like this so worth it.

Oh, and p.s., there's going to be a music video soon. Keep watch (pun absolutely intended) for what they're doing, and you won't regret it.

With no further adieu, we present to you “Creep”!!! You can now stream it on ITunes, Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, Pandora and multiple other platforms! It is such an amazing feeling to finally complete this journey and share our story with you. We hope you enjoy and share! Thank you for the support, more to come!!! Love,
Sigma’ca****la

The Michigan G-Men are a diverse group of weird and wonderful dudes with the sort of musical vision and cohesiveness that you just don't really find in the collegiate scene. This was our third project with them, and it's finally a full-length album (recorded over two years), and we hope you're as thrilled (or terrified or confused or emotional) as we are now that it's finally out in the wild.

GreetinGs!! Our new studio album Hijklmnog is out now on Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play and on our website (link below). Some of our favorite tracks like Mr. Brightside and Eleanor Rigby are included! We’ve worked super hard on these sick tracks and are SO stoked to finally share them with you!

A huge thank you to all of our friends, families, supporters and the G alumni, as well as our producers (Plaid Productions, Alex Green, Alexander Koutzoukis, Dave Sperandio, Vocal Mastering) and everyone else involved in creating Hijklmnog; this could not have happened without you.

We've known the guys in Six Appeal for almost six years now (hey look at that!), and they're *still* putting out great music both in the studio and on stage. This is the first of many live mixes we'll be working on during the next month or so with them – and yes, they really do sound this good.

Audio Recording & Editing by Jordan Roll with some additional work by Justin Crichfield, Audio Mix by Alex Green (that's us!), slick-as-hell Video Production by Mike Fuller.

Thinking about being in the Boston/Somerville area during the week of August 6-10? Join us for and learn about recording and production for free while making music with some talented people! Past sessions have resulted in multiple CARA-nominated and winning tracks, including this past year's Best Pop Song for Sorry Not Sorry.

This year, we're calling the week RE:vibe because we want to have a discussion on just that: what makes the "vibe" of a song, and how do you go about changing that to fit your group or a different vision. Email info@plaidaca****la.com if you're interested, or just reach out to one of the Alexes.

02/12/2018

This past Friday, the Contemporary A Ca****la Recording Awards nominations for 2018 were announced, and we're thrilled (and pleasantly surprised) to be able to say we've been a part of SIXTY-SEVEN (67!) of them. It would be a *very* long post if we tried to tag everyone, and an equally long list if we tried to list every category we were involved in, so instead:

Thank you to EVERYONE who worked with us over the last year to make this possible. We literally couldn't have made all of this excellent music without you, and most of the credit belongs to the musicians we helped along the way to excellence. We'll try to tag all of you below, but there's a solid chance we'll miss one or two since... there are many of you. So, if you're one of those many, give us a shout!

Oh, right, and as a last little kicker, music we worked on as part of got FIVE of those nominations, which is extra cool. We'll be at Boston Sings [BOSS] this year to see the final results!

[ CARA Nominees: congratulations! Want to celebrate your nomination with CASA? Come to BOSS! We'll be celebrating in style with a Red-Carpet Event and live awards presentation! Visit bostonsings.com for the details on all of our CARA events, live in Boston on Sunday, April 8th. ]

Honored to say that our cover of Brandon Boyd's "Runaway Train" has been selected for sing 14! Congratulations to all involved, and especially longtime clients OneVoice, whose track "Freedom" also made the cut.

CASA is pleased to announce the tracks to be selected for sing 14: Continuum. The selection committee listened to more than 190 submissions and almost 1200 tracks to curate this year's installment of your favorite a ca****la compilation!

The third and final of our releases to start the new year is sort of a bonus track -- the most expansive endeavor from our first year at took a little longer than expected to make its way out into the world, but is totally worth it, in our opinion. Featuring a powerhouse lead from Archie Gopal (and a bridge built around her carnatic talents), as well as a killer trio from Matthew Stoker and Gina Deaton:
