Incredible night of jazz last Friday at the Black Box Theater for Somersworth Jazz Night! The SHS and SMS Jazz Ensembles and SHS Jazz Combo shined for their final performances of the school year.

To close things out, we were treated to a stellar set by the Chris Klaxton Quintet, featuring local legends Mike Effenberger, Nick Mainella, Rob Gerry, and Eric von Oeyen. It was a masterclass in local jazz and the perfect conclusion to an enlightening year of scales, modes and trading fours.

The evening will showcase the hard work of our middle and high school jazz bands, followed by a performance from the Chris Klaxton Quintet, featuring world-class Seacoast-based jazz performers and music educators.

It’s finally here!! Opening night for the 2026 Somersworth High School Musical is TOMORROW! 🐝🎤

Lights are set, dictionaries are open, and the "comfort juice boxes" have been put on ice. The cast and crew of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee are ready to bring laughter, drama, and some seriously impressive spelling to the stage.

Last Thursday, the SHS Band headed down to Boston for a truly incredible experience! Ms. McSweeney took the group to see a performance by the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Symphony Hall. An amazing opportunity for our student-musicians to witness a world-class ensemble delivering a stellar performance that won't be forgotten anytime soon.

A huge thank you to Ms. McSweeney for organizing such an inspiring trip and for giving our kids the chance to experience the very best in live music!

So proud of seniors Reilly and Raymond for representing SHS at the NH All-State Music Festival this weekend! These two worked incredibly hard to earn their seats among the best singers in the state. This follows a big winter for these two, who also took part in the Jazz All-State Festival earlier this year!

A huge shout-out and thank you to Mr. Burns for his dedication, not only for accompanying them this weekend but for the countless hours of training and support he provided to help them level up. We’re lucky to have such talent in our music department. Go Toppers!
