Somerset Artists' Co-Op

Somerset Artists' Co-Op Shop open on Saturdays 11:00am-5:00pm Our mission is to create and celebrate art within the community. You may also visit by appointment.

The Somerset Artists' Co-Op creates and celebrates art with our community, providing public and private classes in a variety of art forms including painting ,ceramics, resin metalsmithing, stained glass and more. The Somerset Artists’ Co-Op began in 2012 when a group of enthusiastic, hard working individuals with a passion for art decided to bring the arts to the village of Somerset. Many local a

rtists draw inspiration from the area’s natural resources such as clay and natural gas to throw one-of-a-kind ceramics, picturesque scenery to paint captivating landscapes, homegrown gourds to fashion storage containers and much more. Somerset Artists’ Co-Op is a non-profit organization and is supported by contributions from local businesses, students’ class fees, membership dues, gallery commissions, fund raisers and a grant from the Ohio Arts Council. The Co-Op promotes involvement of our members and our community by offering a variety of classes and workshops. Our fees are kept affordable in order to keep artistic opportunities within easy reach. Our workshops are as creative as the imaginative minds that develop them. A short list includes:

- Wheel-turned, hand building, and slip poured pottery
- Fiber Art
- Stained Glass
- Glass Enameling
- Jewelry Making
- Pastel
- Watercolor
- Acrylic Painting

Our Gallery Shop may feature special weekend hours during holiday seasons. Visit our website to contact us and join one of our many classes. We're looking forward to seeing you!

September 22 | 6PM-7PM
New Lexington Library
*Registration is REQUIRED*
Spots are limited, so sign up soon by contacting Melissa Marolt at [email protected] or 740-342-4194!

Families will work collaboratively to paint an 18" × 18" barn quilt square. Each family will create their design, choosing from traditional quilt block patterns, contemporary designs, or geometric compositions. The finished painted barn quilt square will be taken home to display outside at their barn or home.

The project connects with the library’s America 250 programming by exploring the history and tradition of painted quilt squares in Ohio and how this form of rural art has become a recognizable part of communities throughout the state and beyond. It will also give families an opportunity to create something together that connects art, family, and Ohio history.

Maximum participants: 12 families, with each family painting one barn quilt square. Registration is required. Please contact Melissa Marolt ([email protected] or 740.342.4194,ext 119) to register.

This program is funded by an ArtRise grant through the Ohio Arts Council.

We are deeply thankful and honored to share that Yan Sun’s oil painting, “Sunlit Reflections” (18”x24”), has been selected into the prestigious 2026 Best of America International Juried Exhibition. Hosted by the National Oil & Acrylic Painters’ Society (NOAPS), this exhibition celebrates the very best in contemporary oil and acrylic painting.

“Sunlit Reflections” shows the quiet, emotional harmony of light and nature that Prof. Sun is so passionate about sharing.

The exhibition will take place from September 1–26, 2026, at the Ballard’s Fine Art Gallery located in the historic downtown of Sheridan, Wyoming.

While the painting will be traveling to Wyoming for the show, we would love to share this celebration with you right here at home. This fall, you can learn the exact concepts of light, color, and atmosphere featured in Sunlit Reflections during our upcoming weekend painting classes: Saturday, Sept 12 and 19, 2026 | 9:30 AM – 12:00 Noon. Check events of Yan Sun Art Museum & Gallery for details.
