Very exciting!
An exciting new chapter for Jacob Miller’s Tavern begins tomorrow! Tomorrow, October 13, the careful dismantling of this more than 200-year-old Somerset landmark will officially begin!
While it may be difficult to see such a historic building come down, this is an important first step toward preserving it for future generations.
The original timbers will be carefully dismantled, protected, and stored while necessary repairs are made. Our goal is to eventually re-erect Jacob Miller’s Tavern on a new foundation in its original location in Somerset.
For more than two centuries, this tavern has been part of Somerset’s story. Imagine the generations of travelers, pioneers, and neighbors who passed through its doors, the conversations that took place, and the history that unfolded within its walls.
We believe history belongs to all of us. We are simply its stewards, entrusted with preserving it for the generations who come next. This is more than saving an old building. It’s about honoring the people who came before us and protecting a piece of our shared story.
This is not the end of Jacob Miller’s Tavern. It’s the beginning of a new chapter!
