About the Gallery – Solana Beach

On July 10, 2010, the Aaron Chang Ocean Art Gallery opened its flagship location at 415 South Cedros Avenue, in the heart of the Solana Beach Design District. Founded by award-winning, internationally acclaimed local artist, Aaron Chang, the gallery has drawn locals and visitors alike.

“I love Solana Beach,” states Chang. “We opened our first gallery at a very precarious economic time, and we depended on our community to get us up and running. The love and support we have received from the North County residents over the years far exceeds anything I could have hoped for. When I’m not shooting or traveling, I truly love to be here!”

The Solana Beach gallery features Aaron’s large format photographic prints with surf and ocean themes alongside several striking surfboard sculptures. All of the work is available in custom sizes to transform the character of any commercial or residential space. The gallery seeks to be active in the community and often hosts events for charities, schools and group functions. Please call a gallery associate for details: (858)345-1880. The Aaron Chang Ocean Art Gallery was voted “Best Gallery” in 2011 and 2012 by San Diego and Ranch and Coast Magazines. In 2013 – 2015, Aaron was voted “Best Artist” by Ranch and Coast magazine and was named San Diego’s “Ambassador of the Arts” by the San Diego Tourism Board in 2014 - 2016. On the way back from Colorado and Utah, we stopped in Turlock for a Saluki specialty show. My wife, Erika, loves the breed and we have two salukis that go everywhere with us. This one was for her and our boy .

Kazper won Best of Breed. So proud of them both.

Thank you to Austrian judge Nina Neswadba, an all-around lovely person, for picking him.

Coastal Links - From the air above Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, the coast reveals its shape. Fairways run along the bluffs, white sand curves below them, and the Pacific fills the rest of the frame in deep blue. Out at the horizon, a bank of fog waits for evening.

Late sun stretches the shadows of the cypress across the beach. The waves come in one line at a time. Up here, the whole shoreline reads as one long, unhurried breath.

Coastal Links brings the beauty of the Carmel Coast into your home.

Evening Eye - Pipeline, on Oahu's North Shore, glows gold in the warm light of evening. This classic photograph was shot on 35mm film from the water, at eye level with the wave.

At its center, the barrel opens into a translucent green eye, lit from behind by the low sun. The crest breaks into a plume of blue-white mist. Behind it, distant mountains and silhouetted palms soften into the haze.

In the foreground, the water's surface catches the golden light. The scene is serene and dynamic at once, holding the beauty and power of this world-famous wave.

Evening Eye brings that golden light and the energy of the open ocean into your home.

Available as a limited edition of 500. Evening Eye is also available as a surfboard.

The Veil - Descending in silence through a cathedral of moss and fern, this waterfall moves with the effortless grace of water that has always known its way — spilling over ancient stone into a pool of extraordinary stillness below.

This singular fine art photo captures the hushed, sacred quality of a place untouched by time — where the only sound is the gentle roar of water finding its way home.

The sublime convergence of falling water, living moss and deep forest shadow, as captured in this moment, washes clean whatever we carry in — and returns us to a state of pure, unguarded awe.

A fine art limited edition of 95.

Beach Stones - Seen from directly above, a wash of foam slides back over a bed of wet stones at Torrey Pines. Amber, olive, rust, and slate, each polished smooth by the surf, shine wet in the light. A slower shutter blurs the retreating water to soft white, while every stone below stays sharp.

Stand here long enough and you hear it: the low, resonant clatter of stones rolling as each wave washes up and pulls back. The surf has been rounding them this way for centuries. It is the kind of beauty most people walk right past.

Beach Stones brings the color and quiet rhythm of the shoreline into your home.

Available as a 12" x 12" acrylic: https://aaronchang.com/products/beach-stones

Huntington Beach, summer 2015. A surf contest pulls thousands onto the sand.

Boards under arm, umbrellas up, everyone drifting toward the water. In black and white, the crowd becomes a pattern of figures and shadows.

Hot sand, bright sun, and the whole town at the beach.

Carmel Morning - An aerial view of Carmel Beach, where turquoise water meets white sand in soft morning light. Each wave leaves a thin line of foam, its rhythm set against the smooth shoreline. Above it all, greenery and long morning shadows hold the top of the frame.

From this height, the beach becomes a study in pattern: the surf's repeating lines against unbroken sand. Cool water, soft sand, and the day just beginning.

Carmel Morning brings the serenity of the coastline into your home.

A limited edition of 500.

Carmel Embers - Carmel Beach at sunset. Orange, yellow and deep red fill the sky, with a thin band of blue still holding at the top of the frame. Low tide leaves shallow pools across the sand that mirror every color above.

Carmel Embers brings the warm glow of a beach at sunset into your home.

A limited edition of 95.

August 1984. Twenty of the world's best surfers in one frame, captured by Aaron Chang.

Shot in a rented photo studio in Sydney, Australia, during a world tour event, this became the cover of Surfing Magazine's 20th Anniversary Special Edition. The biggest group of surfing talent ever assembled for a single photo.

Remembering Buttons Kaluhiokalani, Dane Kealoha, and W***y Morris.

Solana Skies by Saxon Chang - Solana Skies captures the warm glow of a Solana Beach evening, when the sky turns orange, violet, and blue. The wet sand holds every color, doubling the sunset at the water's edge.

Along the shore, walkers pause, surfers wait for one more wave, and dogs run the tideline. The bluffs rise behind them, giving the scene depth and the quiet character of this stretch of coast.

Solana Skies brings the serenity and coastal beauty of the shoreline into your home.
