Another wonderful cohort of my Painting Trees class wrapped up last week 🌲 🌳

Here are a few of the demo paintings I painted during the course:

• A master copy inspired by Edgar Payne
• An evergreen study
• A deciduous tree study
• And a character-filled tree study

Over six weeks, we explored structure, light, edges, color, and the many ways trees can bring life and emotion into a landscape painting. It’s always inspiring to watch students grow in confidence and begin seeing trees in a whole new way.

So honored to be included in the 2026 Juror’s Invitational at the Leonor R. Fuller Gallery at SPSCC!

The 2026 Juror’s Invitational runs April 6 – May 1, 2026, with an opening reception on Friday, April 10, 6:00 – 7:30 PM. It features award-winning artists from the 2025 Southwest Washington Juried Exhibition, selected by Guest Juror Janae Huber and SPSCC, who are invited back to show new work in this group exhibition.

The invitational includes Purchase Award winners Michael Diamond (whose work Grandfather’s Tools combines cast glass and steel) and Nancy Romanovsky (me!) for Summer Reflections, an oil painting of a local landscape.

Come celebrate with me at the opening reception!
