Something wonderful is already happening…

📬 You’ve Got Mail!

The Wonder Mailbox has received its first deliveries, and the BookHouse isn’t even open yet.

Today’s mail included a postcard, a letter sent to our founder Jenebeth Ortiz and two letters waiting for their recipients.

Esther Maria Swaty and Courtney Dyer if you’re reading this, your letters are waiting for pickup at Smitty’s Small Town Wonders BookHouse. 💛

And the mailbox wasn’t the only excitement today. A few visitors stopped by, discovered the postcards, and took home copies of the Explore Smithville Activity Book.

Postcards, letters, activity books … and a small reminder that sometimes a place begins long before its grand opening.

📬 This Week’s Wonder Box: Postcards 💛

This week’s Wonder Box is filled with postcards.

Some have traveled across the country. Some celebrate small towns. Some celebrate big cities. Each one is a reminder that a few handwritten words can travel farther than we think.

We’re also introducing the Wonder Mailbox, located on the porch of Twig and Smitty’s Small Town Wonders BookHouse.

Take a postcard from the Wonder Box. Send one to someone. Leave one for Smitty. Or simply write a note and tuck it into the Wonder Mailbox.

Need a stamp? We’ve got you covered.

Not in Smithville? Send us a DM and we’d be happy to mail a postcard your way.

In a world filled with texts and notifications, there’s still something magical about finding a handwritten note waiting in the mailbox.

Take a little wonder.
Leave a little wonder.
Send a little wonder. ✨💛📬

A Book We Shared
(available to come scoop now)📚📖

One of the first books tucked into the Wonder Box is The Book Thief, recommended by Stephanie, who welcomes you at Twig each weekend.

Set in Germany during World War II, this acclaimed work of historical fiction explores the power of words, friendship, and the ways books can bring comfort, courage, and connection during difficult times.

Originally published in 2005 and later adapted into a feature film, it continues to find new readers nearly twenty years later.

The Book Thief is one of those books that stays with many readers long after they turn the last page.

Have you read it?

✨ Introducing the Wonder Box ✨

A little wonder has appeared on the porch at Twig.

The Wonder Box is a shared project between Twig and the upcoming Smitty's Small Town Wonders BookHouse.

Inside, you'll find surprises chosen to spark curiosity, creativity, connection, and wonder. Sometimes those surprises may be books.

As we begin building the future shelves of the BookHouse, we're not focused only on bestsellers or what's trending. We're interested in books that moved us, taught us something, stayed with us, introduced us to a new perspective, or simply deserve another reader.

And we'd love to hear from you.
What are you reading? What book has stayed with you long after you turned the last page? What stories do you think deserve to be discovered?

Your recommendations will help shape future collections, reading lists, and community conversations at the BookHouse.

📍 Find it on the porch at Twig
206 Bishop Street, Smithville

Because some of the best stories are the ones someone shared with us. 💛📚

Guess who is heading across the pond?! 🌍

Our sweet friend Sara is off to Scotland, and she’s brought a very special travel buddy along for the journey. This morning, Smitty was spotted catching some early morning light and taking in the sights at the Austin airport, officially kicking off his biggest adventure yet!

From the heart of Smithville to the historic streets, rolling green hills, and magical castles of Scotland, Smitty is ready to explore it all. We can't wait to see this little piece of home travel across the world, reminding us that no matter how far we go, wonder travels with us.

We’ll be sharing updates from Sara and Smitty’s journey right here, so be sure to follow along! Where do you think Smitty's first stop in Scotland will be?

If you looked closely at the Summer Kick-Off Bash last week at MLK Park, you might have spotted a couple of familiar, smiling faces!

It is so incredibly great to see Jenebeth and Smitty back home in Smithville, catching up with old friends and making new ones. Here is our founder holding Smitty tight amidst all the laughter, T-Rex and sunshine. And let us tell you, Smitty had the absolute blast of a lifetime! ☀️

From cuddling animals at the petting zoo to enjoying free hot dogs and sweet, icy snow cones, it was the perfect way to welcome summer. But the absolute highlight? Watching the amazing Smithville Fire Department cool everyone down by spraying the trucks' hoses for the ultimate fire truck cooldown! 🚒💦

Moments like last week are exactly why Smitty’s Small Town Wonders exists. Seeing our community come together—thanks to the incredible hosts at the Smithville Public Library and Smithville ISD—reminds us that wonder isn't hard to find when you're surrounded by neighbors, laughter, and pure childhood joy.

Summer 2026 is officially here, and we are so ready to keep making memories right here at home. Where should Smitty visit next? 💛

Rooted in the spirit of Smitty’s Small Town Wonders and Edge Ink + Ideas, we hope it becomes a space filled with connection, curiosity, and the kind of everyday magic that reminds us to notice the world around us.

The countdown to moving inside our room at Twig starts now. ✨ This custom piece was made for Twig, and it perfectly captures their vintage, whimsical charm! 🌿
They are officially open, so go check out the new space.

Giveaway alert! 💛 The first 5 people to tag or share the name or story of a hero in their life in the comments will receive a special "Color Me Postcard" from Smitty.

Memorial Day weekend is a time for gatherings and road trips, but it’s also a moment to pause and remember the sacrifices that make these days possible. Right here in our community, Veterans Memorial Park stands as a beautiful place of remembrance for the heroes of Smithville and Bastrop County.

To honor them, we’ve turned one of the coloring pages from the Explore Smithville activity book into a special postcard. You can decorate it and send a note of thanks to a hero in your own life—whether they are a veteran, a first responder, a teacher, or a mentor.

Drop your hero's story below to claim your postcard! 👇✨
