Two more introduction letters traveled to the BookHouse this week, one from Rhode Island and one from the United Kingdom. Each from someone hoping to find a new pen pal.💌

There is something wonderful about correspondence. Before you even read the words, there are little pieces of the person and place they came from: the handwriting, the paper, the stickers, the stamps.

As a Letter Keeper for , the Sunday Letter Project, the BookHouse is helping these letters find their way to new friends.

For now, you can find them in the Wonder Box on the porch. Come read their stories, discover someone new, write a reply, and see where the friendship travels.

Beginning September 3, the Introduction Letters move inside the BookHouse and into our vintage mail sorter.

And we have one simple commitment: no letter goes unanswered.

As a little pre-opening gift: if you respond to one of our pen pal seekers, the BookHouse will pay the postage for your first reply. 💌

Somewhere, someone is hoping for a letter back. Will you write one?

As a Letter Keeper for , the BookHouse will begin sharing the weekly writing prompt each Sunday. 💌

And today, Smitty is putting this one into practice.

A delayed flight could have meant spending the afternoon trying to find an earlier one. Instead, we pulled out some stationery and stayed with the moment.

Then… started a little list of people who came to mind…

No plan. No perfect words. Just a blank page, a name, and a little time.

And yes… Smitty carries pretty paper and cards everywhere. You never know when a letter might need writing. 😉

Perhaps that’s part of slowing down , noticing who comes to mind when we stop trying to hurry through the moment.

And then our letter traveled… 💌

Yesterday, we shared the simple idea behind The Sunday Letter Project: one letter, every Sunday.

And this is what happens when we put pen to paper.

A letter from our little BookHouse in Smithville, Texas crossed the Atlantic to Rebecca in the UK, founder of Wildflower Illustration Co. and The Sunday Letter Project, alongside Karl, who read our words aloud to many.

One letter. One small town. A much wider circle of connection.
