Playhouse Smithville is proud to announce the play script; Troop 2239, by Delynn E. Peschke, United States Cost Guard (Ret.) is the first winner of the Texas Veterans Playwriting Competition. The Competition is sponsored by The Texas Commission of the Arts, The Richard D. Latham Cultural District of Smithville, Texas and Playhouse Smithville. Troop 2239 will be given a staged reading at Playhouse Smithville under the direction of the Artistic Director, john daniels, jr.* Congratulations, Delynn.

Playhouse Smithville, a community theatre in Smithville, Texas, hosts the first Texas Veteran's Playwriting Competition 2020 sponsored by Playhouse Smithville, the Richard D. Latham Cultural District of Smithville, TX, the City of Smithville and the Texas Commission on the Arts. Deadline to submit a script is midnight, January 31, 2020. The winner will be notified no later than April 30, 2020 via e-mail and/or telephone.

The winner will receive a $1000.00 cash prize and their script will receive a staged reading directed by Playhouse Smithville Artistic Director john daniels, jr. (sic). The staged reading will be performed at Playhouse Smithville, 110 Main Street in Smithville, Texas and will be open to the public.
