The poignant story of an aging widow living with her son and daughter-in-law in a three-room flat in Houston, Texas. Fearing her presence may be an imposition on others, Mrs. Watts believes that if she could only get back to Bountiful, her hometown, she would surely regain her strength, dignity and peace of mind. The Trip to Bountiful follows our Mrs. Watts through her physical and emotional journey home.

High gas prices causing issues with your Memorial Day weekend plans? Come take THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL with us! She longs to return now that she feels her days are few. What happens when the town you long to return to doesn't exist anymore? Sometimes we carry the best of it with us. It is with a heavy heart we must pass on the information that the NLT family has lost one of the kindest, most beautiful souls to grace our stage. Many will know Rhonda Smith more from her work in the box office, but she was an incredible actress when she graced our boards. She was kind, soft spoken, funny, and she will be missed by all of us. Our hearts are with Sammy and Betty during this time.

Plenty of stuff to do this weekend!

Benson Little Theatre finishes up their run of GUYS AND DOLLS.

Center Stage Theatre in Goldsboro is performing NUNSENSE (one weekend only).

Both are running Friday, Saturday and Sunday so you don't have to choose between gamblers or nuns... do both!

Saturday is Ham & Yam, and NLT's own Kathi Nixon will be playing on the Front Street Stage from 9:30-11:00 so come downtown and listen to some good music while you decide how many deep fried foods you can consume in one day. 😁

Career-driven Suzannah Hayden needs a lot more help on the home front than she's getting from her husband, Gibby. Lately, nurturing his marriage of twenty-seven years hasn't been the highest priority for Gibby, but pretty soon he'll wish it had been. Beth Bailey, Suzannah's newly-hired assistant, a gregarious, highly-motivated daughter of the South explodes into the Hayden household and whips it into an organized, well-run machine. As Suzannah's dependence on Beth grows, Beth decides that Gibby must go, and Gibby sets out to save his marriage.

Our Story

The little log cabin by the Town Commons on the Neuse River... we came to have our home in the late 1980s and became the sole occupants in the mid-to-late 1990s.

Few small communities have experienced the quality of local theatre that has graced Johnston County’s stages. From its founding in 1974, the Neuse Little Theatre has maintained the highest standards of quality. From Neil Simon to Rogers & Hammerstein; from Spoon River Anthology to Wizard of Oz, NLT has strived to delight young and old alike.

After years of traveling from pillar to post in search of a home, the Neuse Little Theatre found a place to call its own. “The Hut”, as it is affectionately known, is NLT’s home. Originally the American Legion Log Cabin, Neuse Little Theatre has worked hard at upkeep of the building while making it work as a live performance space. With only 100 seats, the Hut provides ample seating while maintaining the intimate theatrical experience that our audiences enjoy.

Come see a show and see what NLT can do! See you at the theater!
