Get ready for an exciting day of music, dance, and storytelling as the Tuscarora Nation of North Carolina brings their vibrant traditions to the Celebrate Smithfield International Culture Festival on Saturday, March 15, from 11 AM – 4 PM at the Johnston County Museum in Downtown Smithfield! This free, family-friendly event will showcase the rich history of the Tuscarora people through live performances, storytelling, and interactive discussions.
Don’t miss the high-energy dance performance from 1:30 – 2:30 PM, where you’ll experience the rhythm and movement of traditional Tuscarora dances. Storytelling and discussions will take place throughout the day, offering a deeper connection to the legends and history of the Tuscarora Nation. "We are honored to share our rich history and culture with the people of Johnston County. This land is part of who we are," says Tuscarora elder Robert Chavis of Red Springs.
Mark your calendar, bring your friends and family, and come celebrate this incredible cultural experience. Pick up your passport in front of the library and then travel the world throughout downtown Smithfield.
