This past Saturday I had the absolute pleasure of teaching a mixed media workshop for a wonderful group of ladies at our local coffee shop . This workshop was very different from others I’ve done in the past.
This workshop was specifically teaching art therapy to a group of women who are survivors of sexual trauma. I’ll admit I was initially intimidated at the thought of teaching this class, and honestly felt under qualified. But told myself that God may have placed this opportunity in my path for a reason. And I believe that to be true after teaching this class.
These ladies were a true blessing to teach, and many of them shared how they came to the class not knowing what to expect, but afterwards they were so excited and filled with hope after doing art this way. Praise God!!
Now this class wasn’t centered around Bible journaling, but there’s no doubt in my mind that the Lord was present in that room! I am so excited to be adding this type of class to the list of workshops I offer! It’s amazing how God can connect people to do His will when you listen!
My friend Chondra, who I coincidently met here on IG, is the Director of MEND. MEND offers a space for you to feel safe, loved, and encouraged in your journey toward healing. They lead an eight-week class where they address a few of the many residual struggles experienced as a result of sexual trauma. The purpose for MEND is not to be a fixed solution, but rather a starting point or next step in a journey of healing. You are not alone and there is hope. They help people locally AND online around the country! So check them out if you feel this is something you could benefit from.
