CHAN AND GO RULES ***********Doors are allowed to be 4-in stitch welded. This rule change is for safety reasons!********************************************Sanders County Fair Demolition Derby Chain and Go Rules.
2026 Sandbaggers need not apply.
NO 1973 or older Imperials, NO 2003 or newer Ford Motor company, NO pickups, vans, ambulances etc. Passenger cars only. NO front wheel drive or 4-wheel drives.
1. ALL CARS MUST REMAIN STOCK UNLESS SPECIFIED BELOW! THIS MEANS IF IT DIDN’T COME FROM THE FACTORY
ASSEMBLY LINE WITH IT, YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DO IT. NO
WELDING!!!!!!!
2. ALL chrome, door handles, glass, body molding, etc. must be removed.
3. ALL interior must be removed. Removal of the driver's door panel is optional but is
highly recommended.
4. Original gas tank must be removed from the car. Fuel tanks must be mounted securely inside the car, centered in the middle of the car. 10-gallon max capacity.
Must be an approved fuel tank. (Boat tanks are OK). MUST BE A METAL TANK! NO PLASTIC FUEL TANKS UNLESS THEY ARE IN a METAL BOX Electric fuel pumps may be used, but must be mounted securely inside the car and wired to a separate switch that is clearly marked.
5. A single brace MUST be mounted from the firewall to the roof in the windshield area. Brace may only have one point of attachment on the firewall and no more than 2 points of attachment on the roof.
6. NO WELDING!!!!!!
7. Trimming corners of bumpers and fenders well is OK. No fastening an inner panel or webbing to outer sheet metal unless specified in the rules. EX: You can’t bolt the inner fender to the outer fender etc.
8. Hoods must be chained or bolted shut. NOT WELDED. Maximum of 4 points.
Single wrap chain only. Hinges DO NOT count as points. HOODS MUST OPEN can use 2-3/4 inch all thread at core support welded to side of frame up through hood with maximum 3" washers.
9. Trunks must be chained or wired shut. NOT WELDED, OR BOLTED SHUT.
Maximum of 4 points. Single wrap chain or 3 loops of wire only. Hinges DO NOT count as points.
10. Doors must be chained or wired shut. NOT WELDED, OR BOLTED SHUT.
Maximum of 4 points. Single wrap chain ore 3 loops of wire only. 4-point cage mandatory Must consist of 2 door bars (inside or outside) dash bar, cross bar behind seat and a tip over bar behind driver’s seat from floor to roof bolted on each end.
Inside, 6-inch material max 6 inch away from firewall and floor sheet metal. Door bars not to exceed 60 inches long, must be securely welded or bolted this is for drivers’ safety. Outside, door bars must be no longer than 6 inches past front door
seams, no wider than 8 inches or thicker than 3 inches, securely bolted to doors with a minimum of 4 3/4 inch or larger bolts with 3-inch washers.
11. No chains may go around the frame, sub frame, or K member. Body bolts and mounts must remain factory assembly line stock and in stock location. No adding extra body bolts you may not chain rear end to humps or package tray.
12. No suspension modifications allowed. Overload springs must be removed or cut!
Aftermarket shackles must be removed or lowered to the lowest point. Steering and shocks may not be modified. No aftermarket steering columns. No tying in coil springs and no clamping leaf springs. Removable steering wheels are ok replacing rage joint on end of column is ok with a single ujoint.
13. Motors and transmissions must remain FACTORY ASSEMBLY LINE COMPLETELY STOCK AND IN ITS STOCK LOCATION. NO WELDING MOTOR MOUNTS! Motors and transmissions must be family line to the make of car.
Motors and transmissions must be mounted with factory stock mounts & may be fastened securely with chain only (1 per side). NO WELDING. NO engine cradles, or Carb swaps are allowed within reason. FACTORY STOCK MOTORS & TRANSMISSIONS ONLY. NO AFTERMARKET OR HIGH-PERFORMANCE MOTORS OR PARTS. THIS MEANS MOTORS MUST BE FACTORY ASSEMBLY LINE STOCK FROM CARB TO OIL PAN, THAT MEANS IF IT DID NOT COME OFF THE FACTORY ASSEMBLY LINE WITH IT, IT WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED STOCK AND YOU WILL NOT RUN! IF AT ANY TIME DURING A HEAT THE JUDGES SUSPECT THAT YOUR ENGINE IS NOT STOCK
INTERNALLY THE HEAT WILL BE STOPPED AND YOU WILL BE
DISQUALIFIED!! THIS IS A ZERO TOLERANCE RULE!
14. Radiators must remain in stock location. Fan may be removed or swapped. No wire mesh between radiator and fan. NO OTHER COOLING IS ALLOWED.
Expandable or spray in foam may NOT be used to secure radiator e. Aluminum
radiators are OK. NO coolant allowed water ONLY.
15. Transmission coolers may be used if they are mounted securely in the rear set area. Cooler lines must be steel or hydraulic hose. NO FUEL LINE!!!. Fans on the transmission cooler are OK.
16. Carburetor linkage and transmission linkage may be modified. Carburetor may have a wire or cable running from the throttle on the carburetor to the inside of the car
as a backup. Aftermarket throttle and pedal assemblies are NOT allowed.
17. Exhaust may be cut a minimum of 3 feet from the manifold. a. Headers through the hood are allowed.
18. Batteries must be moved inside of the car to the front passenger floor area,
mounted securely, and covered.
19. All cars must have factory stock working brakes (No pinion brakes)
20. No extra weight may be added to cars.
21. No frame modifications or reinforcement.
22. Pre-bending body tin quarters, and frame notching or dimpling is OK. NO REWELDING NOTCHES IN FRAME. No tilting. No bolting to fender well or inner
skin.
23. D.O.T. approved passenger and light truck tires only. Maximum of 16” wheel. No split rims. No ag, skidder, or studded tires. 7” wheels center allowed. No tire flaps or tire inside tire. Air only in tires. Wheels must be FACTORY ASSEMBLY LINE STOCK.
24. 2–12-inch diameter holes must be cut in hood on each side of the carburetor to aid in extinguishing Fires. Drivers are encouraged to degrease engines to reduce risk of fire.
25. Steel bumpers only, no aluminum bumpers or steel bumpers with aluminum inserts, steel factory bumpers or 4x4 square open-ended tubing 1/4 inch thick is all that is allowed. If using bumper shocks, shock tubes may be collapsed and welded and must be bolted to frame only NO welding of shock tubes to frame. Bumpers and square tube may be directly welded to end of frame, no added material, NO seam welding on factory bumpers. Bumper height must not exceed 18” to the bottom of the bumper. Bumper swaps are allowed.
26. Rear ends must be of passenger car origin. NO WELDING ANYWHERE ON EXTERIOR OF REAR END. a. Locked, posi, or spool is OK. NO truck rear ends.
Must be of family line. Must have a factory-style drive shaft. No aftermarket sliders.
FACTORY STOCK AXLES ONLY. REAR ENDS MUST BE BOLTED IN USING STOCK FACTORY MOUNTS AND BOLTS. NO MODIFYING REAR ENDS OR MOUNTS TO FIT. NO BRACED HOUSINGS. No taping driveline until after tech.
27. Numbers on cars should be painted large and bold to assist judges and the crowd in determining who you are. Roof signs are OK and encouraged.
28. All cars fresh or pre ran may use 2 4x10 by 3/16 thick plates. Plates must not be cut and welded back together. Only 1 plate per frame rail.
If there are more than 20 cars entered, there will be more than one heat. So come prepared. Promoter’s and Judges have final say. If it says NO there will be no exceptions.
