From our Spring 2026 Concert, the SRU Choirs Mass Choir performs By Night by Elaine Hagenberg, with Dominico Reyes on piano.

Inspired by a poem by Harriet Prescott Spofford, the work journeys through darkness into wonder with driving rhythms, soaring vocal lines, and moments of quiet reflection that capture the beauty and mystery of the night.

From our Spring 2026 Concert, the SRU University Chorus performs This Morning by Reg Unterseher, featuring Timothy Little Trần conducting and Dominico Reyes on piano.

Setting a poem by Afrose Fatima Ahmed, the work reflects on nature, renewal, and humanity’s search for hope during the COVID-19 pandemic and BLM movement through vivid musical imagery and powerful storytelling.

From our Spring 2026 Concert, the SRU Concert Choir performs So Breaks the Sun by Shavon Lloyd, setting a poem by Ben Jonson. Through expressive choral textures, soaring lines, and radiant harmonies, the work reflects themes of renewal, hope, and emergence from darkness into light.

From our Spring 2026 Concert, guest conductor Edryn J. Coleman leads the SRU Choirs Mass Choir in his Lift Ev’ry Voice, a powerful work that weaves together the words of James Weldon Johnson and imagery from Katharine Lee Bates’ America the Beautiful. Through bold musical statements and moments of joyful energy, the work envisions a nation striving toward unity, justice, and shared hope.

Created in collaboration with interfaith minister Alex Reegan, the work reimagines the divine as an expansive, gender-inclusive presence reflected through nature, movement, comfort, and human connection.

From our Spring 2026 Concert, the SRU Chamber Singers perform Daniel, Daniel, Servant of the Lord, the powerful African American spiritual arranged by Undine Smith Moore. Filled with rhythmic energy and dramatic storytelling, this work remains one of the most celebrated concert spiritual arrangements in the choral repertoire.

This past Monday, and the SRU Jazz Ensemble had the opportunity to travel and perform at various locations: Franklin Regional School District (Murrysville, PA), Richland School District and First Presbyterian Church (Johnstown, PA).
