Today is the day for regular club play! Plenty of learn-to-play options as well as playing 1:1 games or commander group (4 ppl) play.

Don’t forget! This Saturday from 9a-12p at Slinger Library we will also have some open-play or a constructed event, depending on attendance.

Experienced players; stop by if you have time to give a hand/tips/pointers. We certainly don’t have a monopoly over teaching beginners lol. Otherwise, send some younger and/or newer players to the Slinger Community Library, and let’s nurture the next generation of MTG players, unless they want to play mono-blue…

We have been working with a local, Magic playing, 3D printer having, and overall great guy in order to develop some accessories that will eventually be for sale- with all profits supporting the club!

They’re here! I needed some business cards, and as I was designing them, I decided that MindField Gaming should give new players goodies (Decks, accessories, etc).

New players- Come hang out with us! We are always teaching and playing the 4th Wednesday each month at Slinger Library as well as other community events. All you have to do is show up, and have fun. There will be “double punch” events, and some more surprises along the way.

Basic breakdown of deck giveaways are on the punch cards. Subject to facilitator discretion, decks may be handed out “early” or running behind because it takes a while to build decks lol

Not available Wednesdays? Shoot us a message, and we may be able to make time to do small group teaching, etc (I.e. one player this week would like to play Monday and/or Tuesday, so we are doing our best to accommodate.) 😊

Intermediate-Advanced folks- you are always invited to come hang with the new players and show them the ropes, help sort/build giveaway decks (or donate decks you haven’t used in forever), and just enjoy some good company while passing on the gift of the game.

FYI- I am going to be writing in a “beginner friendly “ fashion”, as a way to help the newer players get familiar with the vocabulary, mechanics, etc. That means for the more experienced players; if I misspeak, please feel free to correct me as a community and join the conversation. I’d rather have clarity and community than misinformation. That being said…

Shout out to the wonderful folks at On the Hunt Collectibles (Local Game Store/ “LGS” within MTG community) in Slinger, WI! This weekend is a “Prerelease Weekend” for the new Magic the Gathering Set “Secrets of Strixhaven”. I grabbed a box to likely tuck away unless the price on them spikes, or maybe I’ll just open it tonight… lol

To support the club, On The Hunt even donated a BOX of Welcome decks for prizes, giveaways, or just good old freebies. At our next club meeting at the library in Slinger, don’t be surprised if you see some… They do a great job displaying each color’s overall feel and play style (I.e. Red = speed/aggression).

On the Hunt - is located on HWY 60 in the same parking lot as the Game Room, who sells pool tables and supplies. There are a bunch of stores around the state, but OTH has been very supportive of us here at MindField even as both organizations are in seasons of growth. Thanks again guys!

Strixhaven is considered an In-Universe set where that its original Magic lore and characters, etc vs “Universes Beyond” (sets like Avatar or Final Fantasy). Strixhaven is essentially Hogwarts, but cooler.

Pre Release event - A prerelease typically goes like this
- Register ahead of time if you can. Some sets are packed with people and may sell out.

- You receive a box with 6 booster packs and some goodies. Then you build a 40 card deck and play against a number of people using a points system. Most of the time prizes are available for top tier finishers. Super fun way to look at the new sets.

Of course financial and MTG related products are always welcome, but not necessary to participate in the mission.

Just wanted to take a moment and thank some businesses that have helped the club(s), and look forward to working with in the future.

On the Hunt I consider to be my LGS (local game store), so I go there for Friday Night Magic, prereleases, etc. I support small/local whenever I can.

As far as my proxy collection, ElkoyTCG and their Chibi style options at ElkoyChibi

They do great work. If you use my affiliate code you will be able to save some money on some stacked decklists! Plus they do great with free decks as well, when you hit certain $$ marks, you can get 1-4 decks free… possibly even more. Great art and quality control. Also- be the look out for some short for videos walking through all my “32 Color Challenge” decks and showing off a bunch of Elkoy decks along the way.

Just to be bundantly clear

Proxies (all Elkoy products) = alternate art and a non “Magic” back. Each card has an original art back on them. NOT official tournament legal.

Counterfeits = original art and card back. These are garbage as it allows folks to claim authenticity and deceive buyers.

Save some Money, get cool stuff. I have some additional coupons that may help even more with the final price and deck totals.
