JULY ARTIST AT
THE LOBBY LOUNGE
KATIE BOECK
JULY 14th
Doors 6:30 ~ Show 7:00
—————————————
In the Summer & Fall of 2018, the idea of a “warm, intimate & bohemian” listening room music venue in Slidell was developed. The venue’s name, features, branding, decor & more came together quickly as did plans to open up by the end of that year and begin our first full season of concerts in 2019. The next step would be identifying and booking the artists. Out of that process, a few names stood out, some said yes, some no, some not at this time. Our next artist, Katie Boeck , was in that early group of musicians . Although it didn’t work out at that time, she stayed at the top of that list … and now - 8 (!!) years and several booking attempts later, we are VERY happy to announce she will be here JULY 14th!!
So …. who is this musical artist we’ve chased since the beginning?
Ladies & Gentlemen, meet
KATIE BOECK:
Katie Boeck is a Nashville-based singer, songwriter, and storyteller crafting emotionally resonant music that sits at the intersection of contemporary folk, Americana, and soul. Her latest single, "Dust," recorded live-to-tape, marks a confident next step in Boeck's evolution.
A 2023 Kerrville New Folk winner and two-time Rocky Mountain Folks Fest Songwriter Showcase finalist, Boeck is gaining recognition as one of the standout voices in today's independent folk scene.
Her 2023 album Calico was named Best Singer-Songwriter Album of the Year by the Indie Acoustic Project and has garnered praise from outlets like Atwood Magazine, Folk N Rock, and Music Mecca, who called her work both “timeless" and "transcendent." Originally from California with deep roots in Central Montana, Boeck studied theater at UCLA before starring as the Voice of Wendla in the Tony-nominated Broadway revival of Spring Awakening.
Her work has also been featured on HBO's The Newsroom and Netflix's Love Island, and during the pandemic, she toured a live reinterpretation of Joni Mitchell's “Blue” - a project that honored one of her musical lodestars while reawakening her own creative voice.
Now based in Nashville, Boeck continues to hone her craft through residencies like Blue Rock and Arts Incubator Ranch (A.I.R), and through regular collaborations with top-tier musicians and producers. Her work has been described as "a siren's song of enchantment" (Music Mecca) and
"beautiful, restrained folk" (Black Plastic), drawing comparisons to folk-pop trailblazers Jonatha Brooke and Shawn Colvin. With new music on the way and growing industry momentum, Katie Boeck is an artist to watch— bringing soul, vulnerability, and a distinctly feminine perspective to the contemporary Americana landscape. She has played Electric Forest Festival, Mile of Music, the Cutting Room, City Winery and Carnegie Hall. Boeck now lives in Nashville with her 8-year-old son. "Boeck sings with a plaintive passion."
