The Tammany Twirlers Square and Round Dance Club

Let's Square them up! The Tammany Twirlers Square and Round Dance Club was formed in 1962 in Slidell, Louisiana and quickly grew to over 100 members.

Their first festival was held in 1963 at the Slidell Municipal Auditorium with a live square dance band, four callers from two states, and a round dance program. This tradition has continued for the past 50 years. Hundreds of dancers from several states attend the festivals each year to enjoy the friendship, fellowship, and dancing provided by this annual event. The Twirlers brought big time square dancing to Slidell with monthly dances with nationally recognized square dance callers.

Keep on smiling, and dancing, with friends at Tammany Twirlers this coming Saturday, June 13th. Our delightful dance leaders will be caller Ted Kennedy,lovely wife Nancy, and round and line leaders, Eric and Linda Dutton. Intro to Rounds starts at 5 pm, and squares with lines at 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The Clubhouse is located at 35386 Home Estate Dr, Slidell, LA 70460. Visitors are always welcome ( and free if non-dancers would like to watch).
It’s a great opportunity to wear red, white and blue- it’s Flag Day this Sunday! Please share.

Rain , and local flash flooding, has put a damper on our Saturday dance June 6th at Tammany Twirlers. We are DARK tonight. We do anticipate dancing next week June 13th, with Ted Kennedy, caller. Stay safe, everyone.

We ‘re getting excited, about this Saturday May 30th “New Plus Blast” with Nick Hartley, caller. This is a daytime workshop, 10 am to 4 pm with an hour lunch break. (Bring a lunch or eat out- there will be some snacks available).
At the Tammany Twirlers Clubhouse, 38356 Home Estate Dr in Slidell LA. $10 per person.
The workshop is planned for those with previous Plus square level exposure. Nick will be featuring the NEW Plus list.

What rain??? The Tammany Twirlers Clubhouse enjoyed good company and the lively talents of dance leaders David Radecker caller, and Eric and Linda Dutton, cuers and line dance leaders. We even joined in a Virginia Reel for extra fun, on May 23, 2026!
NEXT week we look forward to Saturday 10 am to 4 pm “New Plus Blast” with Nick Hartley. (No evening dance on that Saturday) See the flyer.
