Last Monday's Homeschool Art class (10:30am-12:30pm) & Tuesday's After-school Art class (4:30-6:30pm) learned about the different pyramids in Egypt, what the interior looked like & was used for, how they evolved in architectural build, how cats were important to the culture, the mummification process with embalming, what canopic jars were used for & looked like, & other interesting Egyptian beliefs such as Ka & Ba with the soul's components. Then each student created their own 3-dimensional triorama of the interior of an Egyptian pyramid with hieroglyphics, columns, cats, King Tut's sarcophagus, etc. These came out very neat & everyone enjoyed creating theirs & choosing their color palette 🎨.

Monday's Homeschool Art class (10:30am-12:30pm) & Tuesday's After-school Art class (4:30-6:30pm) learned about Egyptian pharaohs, kings, makeup, the Underworld, ma'at, etc. We looked at several artworks, jewelry, headresses, beards, the way their figures were drawn from the side & more 2-dimensional. Each student drew themselves or a representation of a male or female with all of these characteristics. They made artistic decisions on which medium to render it with such as acrylic paint, water colors, markers, etc. I love how everyone's turned out. Such creativity and vision!

SCHEDULE FOR SEPTEMBER ART & CERAMICS CLASSES:

We are on a journey through time with our art this year starting at Cave Art & ending at present day.

~Homeschool Art class~
(Mondays 10:30am-12:30pm)
●Sept 7th-Learn about Egyptian hieroglyphics & cartouches & create a handbuilt ceramic cartouche containing hieroglyphics (drop-in $28)
●Sept 14th-Glaze their Mesopotamia ceramic coil pots & ceramic cartouches from 2 previous projects. If they missed creating thosethen they can create one or both during this class. Create plaster cast for next class. (drop-in $28)
●Sept 21st-Minoan sea or bull depictions from Greece carved into plaster (drop-in $23)
●Sept 28th-Greek vase art paintings, discussing different periods in Greek art, patterns, detail, etc. (drop-in $23)
☆September: 4 classes- monthly rate $90

~After-school Art class~
(Tuesdays 4:30pm-6:30pm)

Are you looking for a fun Date Night 💕idea, a Ladies Night 👭 with friends, or an afternoon of fun? You can also reserve a certain date/time to come with your children👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 to experience working on the potter's wheel & create your own dishes or artworks!
Adults receive 5 lbs of clay (children 4 lbs of clay), I will do a step-by-step demonstration first, then you have 3 hours of fun creating & I will help where needed. It is loads of fun & you will come away from the class having learned a new skill & something to show for it.
Price: $15 non-refundable venmo booking fee to book a date for up to 4 people, plus $50 per adult (children's wheel dates available for $40 per child) to come create which includes instruction, use of tools, the wheel, & studio space, clay, & bisque firing. (2 person minimum to book a class unless there are already bookings at that time already.)
This price is for up to 3 hours including clean-up, any time over that will be an additional $25/hour per group.
Your artworks will need to dry then be bisque fired in the kiln about a week or so after it is created. Artworks should be picked up by 2 weeks time or glazed. If you would like to glaze (paint) your artworks this can be set up at an Open Studio time for $36/per adult or $28/per child. This price for glazing is for up to 3 hours including clean-up, any time over that will be an additional $25/hour per group.
Glaze price includes instruction for glazing, use of glazes, & cone 4-6 glaze firing. Artworks are available 1 to 2 weeks after glazing. Glazing your artworks makes them colorful, waterproof, more durable b/c it is fired to a much higher temperature, & you can eat or drink from them (all glazes are lead-free/dinnerware safe.) We read the rhyming story "Hello Knights!" by Joan Holub & created dragon finger puppets. The kids loved these little puppets & chasing each other around with them. Was a sweet, little, fun class. This week in our Monday Homeschool Art class (10:30am-12:30pm) & in our Tuesday After-school Art class (4:30-6:30pm) we will be learning about Egyptian art, culture, headdress, etc. & create a self portrait as an Egyptian while we listen to Egyptian music. (drop-in $23)

Last Monday in our Homeschool Art class (10:30am-12:30pm) & in our Tuesday Homeschool Art class (4:30-6:30pm) we had fun learning about Art created in Mesopotamia during 3500 BCE. We looked at the artworks from Sumerian, Akkadian, Banylonian, & Assyrian empires also looking at cuneiform (ancient writing before the alphabet), urbanization, & monumental Art & looked at the world map to understand geographically where this stems from. This encompassed ceramic 3D sculptures, reliefs, coil pots, etc also. Each student then used red clay & the coil handbuilding method to create their own pot. They were able to add detail if they wished. Everyone did a wonderful job & some made cups for drinking as opposed to a bowl. These will be fired & by their request to glaze them, we will do that at the end of another class so they can use them functionally for eating or drinking for a $5 charge for glaze & firing.

Had such a fun Wheel Date yesterday with family! My mini-me joined us for a bit also. We had a lot of fun & they did so well. They made beautiful vases, bowls, & plates. These will be fired & ready to glaze in a week. 😊
