Whippoorwheel Studio Functional pottery and sculptural ceramics. https://whippoorwheelstudio.com Clay artist Tammy Judd Jenny was raised in Alaska - Homer and Anchorage respectively.

She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2001. Her solo thesis exhibition of sculptural ceramics was held in UAA’s Kimura Gallery in 2001. She displayed work in numerous group shows including the Anchorage Museum of History and Art’s 2002 “All Alaska Juried Art Exhibition” and its 2003 “Earth, Fire and Fibre.” That year, Tammy also participated in a collaborative art piece for the first “Wild Salmon on Parade” show. In 2004, her work was seen at Studio 68 and at the Whale’s Tail in the Hotel Captain Cook. For several years she was a participating artist in the Anchorage Clay Arts Guild annual fall sale. From 2009 through 2011, Tammy was one of three original founding partners in Artmosphere Studio in Anchorage, a shared working artists’ studio. Artmosphere Studio artists held regular open studio shows, in which Tammy exhibited her art work. In 2010, Tammy moved to Dillingham for a job. While there her work was displayed in a group art show at the Dillingham Museum (2010). In March 2011, Tammy relocated to Southeast Alaska, first living in Petersburg, and now in Sitka. In Petersburg, her work was included in the 2012 Mayfest community art show and the 2013 Tongass Rainforest Festival group art show, both held at the Clausen Museum. Tammy also participated in summer markets, holiday craft sales, and her own studio First Friday events. Tammy's artwork is created at Whippoorwheel Studio, now located in Sitka, and which is currently undergoing remodeling. Her work can be seen at her studio by appointment and at the Island Artist Gallery on Lincoln Street in downtown Sitka. When Tammy is not working with clay, she enjoys taking digital photographs, drawing, playing with watercolors, stamping and printmaking.

No takers for my Friday night painting session soon here by my lonesome. 🤷‍♀️

I’ve got a couple sign ups for tomorrow afternoon’s class though. Woohoo! 🥳

There’s still room for a few more in Saturday’s session, if you’re in Sitka and want to come and paint a prayer flag. From 1-2:30 pm Saturday.

It’s just $35 includes the canvas, paint and instructions.

Friends,

We’ve switched up our hours for the summer. We’re now open 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

We’ve added a few items that I think tourists may enjoy, from a print-on-demand production partner. We also have pottery, beads, art prints, journal cards and such.

I’ve just about filled my kiln so will have new work pretty soon too, if all goes well. 🤞

Sitka friends. My store is open until 5:30 today. Besides my usual pottery and art prints, I’ve got some small hand printed cards. Perfect for a Valentine’s Day love note. I’m busy folding more little envelopes to hold them. Come on down to say hello and have a look around.
My store, Whippoorwheel Studio, is downstairs of Franklin Building, between Yuyos and the Sitka Food Co-op. My store hours are 1-5:30 pm Wednesdays-Saturdays.

I plan on keeping the store tree up until after Russian Orthodox Christmas. Lots of Sitkans celebrate in January 7.
I’m not sure where I’ll store this gigantic tree afterward though 🤷‍♀️

My store location in Sitka will be open Saturday, December 23, from 1-5:30 p.m. I have some cute hand-painted ornaments on the tree, ceramic bell ornaments on display along the windows as well as my pottery, art prints and a few journals and cards. The store is located in the Franklin Building basement level, 236 Lincoln Street, #112. It sits right between Yuyos and Sitka Food Coop. Hope to see you there. Happy holidays, everyone.
