Mitch and Michelle Deaderick have been Northwest Potters for over 30 years. The Cascades mountain range, near Sisters, Oregon where they live, has inspired them to bring the beauty of nature into their work. They use natural carvings and symbols of the North and Southwest Native Americans in many of their pieces. Mitch began throwing pots in Santa Barbara, California in the mid 60s. He was fascin

ated with shapes and glazes even as a young boy. Mitch enjoys working with the traditional Chinese glazes such as Celadon, Chun Blue and Copper Red. He has become every well know for his beautiful red glazes. He taught adult classes at the Santa Barbara Craft Center and has continued the practice of teaching classes in Central Oregon. Mitch found a great love for teaching kids and now teaches in the Sisters Schools and the S.O.A.R. He mentors young potters by employing them through the local High School Arts classes.. After moving to Sisters, Oregon in 1978 Mitch met his wife Michelle. Michelle was studying art at the Central Oregon Community College in Bend. As a beginner potter, she enjoyed carving different designs in her pieces to give them more depth and style. With Michelle’s artistic flair and Mitch’s experience they have together created many unusual one-of-a-kind pieces. They also specialize in functional pieces and have supplied many homes with their colorful wares for daily use. Three of their best creations have been their children. Raising three children and staying creative has taken them down many paths. Their children have been a creative inspiration and have all taken an interest in the arts. Pottery by Mitch has come together with years of love and creativity. Inspiration from nature, family, and community has provided years of artistic success and great joy. Mitch and Michelle have exhibited their art at many Resorts and Galleries. They won best of show at the Sunriver Golf Art Show. Their wares are exhibited at Black Butte Ranch Resort, Lake Creek Lodge Resort, and Pronghorn private Golf Resort in \Central Oregon. They have been a featured artist for Pendleton Woolen Mills catalog and including the Best of the Northwest catalog. Their wares can be found in many local galleries including Donterra Gallery Sisters, Oregon and Ambiance Coop. They have supplied Galleries in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Utah, Nevada, and California. They also spend time on the road doing some great N.W. and S.W.
