Consistency:acting or done in the same way over time:unchanging in nature, standard, or effect over time.
Jehovah,the Lord, is consistent.-Malachi 3:6
Thats why we know that the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophesy.-Revelation 19:10
Whatever He has said He will do will be done. All of His words are Truth. He cannot lie.
As image bearers, we can know with full assurance that wherever we are consistent in our behaviors, we will build strength. Like an athlete, we build what we exercise. Faith, trust, kindness, humility, patience, peace, and love can all be built strong when we exercise them.
If I want to hike strong to see places I've never been before, I must train at home first. The places of familiarity are sometimes our weakest places. The mindset we practice most doesn't just affect our conversations and behaviors, it also affects our physiology. Consistently .
Science has proven that negative thoughts cause our body to produce chemicals that negatively affect our body. When we know and understand this, we can change our mood, our behaviors, and our health.
"Be transformed by the renewing of your mind." Romans 12:2. The word for transformed is metamorphoo in the Greek. Meta-morphoo, with morphoo meaning "fashioned", and meta meaning "amid;occupying".
I defined these backwards to make the point the whatever occupies the mind fashions the person.
Our beliefs fashion our thoughts. Our thoughts fashion our needs. Our needs fashion our behaviors.
Example:"hangry". It's hard to think clear thoughts without intrusive thoughts when we feel an overwhelming need of any kind, whether it be a need for food, rest, or safety.
Fashioning trust into our lives starts in infancy and grows as we grow. If we never got our needs met, growth is stunted. Physically first, then mentally and emotionally, which leads to spiritual immaturity.
So, what can we do? What should we do?
Feed our spirit from The Spirit. When we feed our spirit, we learn how valuable we are, then we watch over our heart, and our thoughts, and we begin to take care of our body.
Gary Brecka, a mortality specialist, says that pursuing comfort is what destroys us. Holy Spirit is our Comforter -John 14:26. Therefore, we should pursue Him that we would find our comfort there.
Pursue The Comforter at home, so that you might take Him out into the paths and trails He sends you. What you are consistent with at home, you will be consistent with on trail.
Psalms 23:1 "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want."
Now, that's a comforting thought!
