Did you know mushrooms yield a wide range of colors when used in the dying process? 🍄

Join us for “Exploring the Mushroom and Lichen Dye Palette of Central Oregon,” the next session in our Natural Dye Workshop series.

Led by naturalist and textile artist, Alissa Allen, this workshop will allow students to gain both the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to confidently work with foraged mushrooms and lichens as a natural dye source.

The next session of our Adaptation lecture series continues on Thursday with, “Wildfires and Agricultural Systems.” This topic hits close to home, especially for The Ranch and our Central Oregon friends. 💌

This lecture features presentations from Rika Ayotte and John Selker, who will share insights from their work with the Deschutes Land Trust and the OPEnS Lab. Drawing on research, field experience, and student-led projects, they will explore the impacts of wildfires and innovative approaches to understanding agricultural systems through environmental sensing and community-based research.

We look forward to see those who pre-registered on Thursday. If you haven't registered, but are interested in attending, join the waitlist, and we'll let you know if space opens up.

Sisters has recently been under wildfire threats, alongside other communities throughout Oregon.

While the immediate danger of the Akawa Butte Fire has decreased, we are actively monitoring fire behavior and air quality from trusted sources.

Guests registered for events at The Ranch will be notified of any changes or cancellations.

We are grateful to the firefighters who are working hard to protect communities like ours across Oregon.
