Last weekend, I was planning to be "just a parent" and watch my youngest son's marching band exhibition performance at the Big Sioux Review competition at BVHS.

I'm glad I kept the lens pointed to the field, as I was able to capture Drum Major Bella in an emotional moment of pride, following their performance as she bows to the crowd and judges. ❤️

Marching Band kids practice longer hours, for weeks/months longer than a regular athletic season might. They only get to compete MAYBE 4 times a season, aside from a couple of halftime shows at home football games.

I don't really know what my point is in posting this, other than to give you all a chance to show your appreciation for THE BAND!!!! Clap, cheer, hoot and holler when theres a particularly hard looking formation or solo - they may not be "athletes" in the traditional sense of the word, but trust me, they bleed, sweat, hurt, and they work their butts off rehearsing their show FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT!
