As we know this day was coming, the past 20 months delayed the formal announcement the retirement of Anita Kealey, founder and Creative Director of the Institute of Design & Technology SD.
We are take pride in the successes of many students that attend summer programs, as well as those who graduated from our full time Interior and Fashion Design programs.
IDTSD started in 2008, and was honored in 2010 with a Governor's Giant Vision award. The funding for the Institute has come from from private donors, and loans were made possible by the SD Economical Development Foundation.
The time has come when our private program can no longer compete with educational programs that receive public funding.
Thank you for believing in our project-based programs that reinforce the creative process.

It was an exciting Friday opening evening for our students' annual portfolio showcase, while following COVID 19 guidelines with safe distancing and fashionable masks.
Just in time for the event, we are able to debut the newest issue of the Sioux Falls Woman Magazine before it reached the newsstands.
Using the textiles of this year's featured designers, student Kendall McMahon put her interior restoration skills to work with refurbishing several old chairs, and fashion student Shania Fluit collaborated the inspiration with couture apparel. Check out the "before" images of the chairs and compare the amazing "after" transformation.
Safely visit us tomorrow with your own "statement mask" (Saturday's Open House 1:00pm - 3:00pm) and we will provide copies of the newest Sioux Falls Woman Magazine.

For over a decade, the Institute of Design & Technology has been presenting their annual Form + Fashion Meets Function event featuring interior and fashion design student portfolios, along with their collaborative projects blending the “function” of interior with the “form” of fashion.

Students from both the fashion and the interior design programs are paired together and given the assignment to create a collaborative piece from their chosen discipline to go with the other students chair or garment. This is an opportunity for students to look at something from the viewpoint of another; something important to learn in any career field.

Collaborations and connections with industry icons Nate Berkus and Alexa Hampton serve as the inspiration this year’s Form + Fashion Meets Function Portfolio showcase at the Institute August 7th and 8th. Using the textiles of both designers; students put their interior design skills to work with refurbishing an old chair (“Form”) the fashion students collaborated that inspiration look with couture apparel (“Fashion”).

Wonderful 2-page spread featuring an impressive collection of millinery and couture by A'rose Atelier' by soon to be graduating IDTSD fashion design student.
