Hi, we're Marcel & Libby and we're the two-person team behind Free to Use Sounds. Our sound journey began back in 2017 in Cambodia, with an idea and a Zoom H1 recorder in hand, we set out to archive our very first sound recording. After 26 countries (and counting), thousands of recordings later, we're still "on the road" recordings sounds while traveling the world full-time. Now with state-of-the-

art recording equipment, we’re able to provide much-needed high-quality affordable sound libraries that we provide to people all around the world! Not only are we recording we're also creating content to help you get started on your own sound journey! Here on Facebook, YouTube, & Instagram, we become an inspiration for others to pick up a recorder and start capturing! THE IMMERSIVE SOUND BUNDLE IS HERE!!!

Over the last year, we made one of the biggest investments in our recording journey and purchased the Schoeps ORTF 3D system and the Neumann KU 100 binaural head.

Today, we’re excited to launch our brand-new Immersive Sound Bundle, dedicated entirely to ORTF 3D and Neumann KU 100 recordings.

We built another crazy recording rig and took it all around Tasmania. 😅

This setup combines a DPA 5100 surround microphone, a Cinela Osix suspension, Schoeps microphones, and a Zoom F8n Pro recorder.

Despite how it looks, this was actually one of our lighter travel setups and it allowed us to capture some incredible soundscapes along the way.

First day exploring the Bund and taking in the skyline. Hard to believe we’ll be calling this city home for the next 28 days.

3.5 weeks in Da Nang, Vietnam, just flew by, and staying at the Crowne Plaza Da Nang was definitely one of the highlights. Out of all the hotels we’ve stayed at around the world over the years, this one felt special.

The staff were not only incredibly professional, but also genuinely warm, fun, and welcoming. When you spend several weeks in the here, the team here made us feel truly welcome, and we can wholeheartedly recommend the Crowne Plaza if you’re planning a visit to Da Nang.

Outside of hotel life, I also discovered a new sport called Hyrox. It’s fun, humbling, and a lot more intense than I expected, but it’s been a great way to get back into shape after spending so much time behind the wheels.

Maybe we’ll be back in December. But for now, it’s time to pack up our bags once again and head to Shanghai, where we’ll be spending the next month exploring, recording, and seeing where the journey takes us next.

Da Nang Vietnam 10 years later!!!

In 2016, Libby and Kiril had an interesting conversation about using sound effects in travel videos.

A few months later, while Libby was editing a video, she remembered that conversation and said, "I wish I had some pigeon wing sound effects to enhance these visuals."

With a Zoom H1 in hand, I went out searching for pigeons. I never found the pigeons, but that moment sparked what you see today.

If we had never met Kiril in Da Nang in 2016, Free To Use Sounds might never have happened.

Travel changes how we see the world, conversations can change everything!

Fritz says hello from Bangkok! 🇹🇭

Definitely a very different soundscape compared to just a couple of days ago in Australia. Using and recording with Fritz, the Neumann KU 100 binaural head, has been a fun experience so far and has probably led to more conversations than actual sound recordings. :)

The audio quality is absolutely outstanding in my humble opinion, and it’s such a fun and completely new way for us to record this city compared to anything we’ve done before. Lets not talk about the weight :)

The humidity here is pretty intense right now though, so we’ll probably wait for slightly better conditions before heading out to record Bangkok properly in 3D. :)

What’s it like being the founders of Free To Use Sounds?

For us, it created a life we truly enjoy living. A life where we can slow down when we want to, or pick up speed and travel the world, without constantly feeling rushed or stressed.

We both stopped treating travel like an escape and turned it into a life.

And if we can do it, you can do it too.
