Hi, we're Marcel & Libby and we're the two-person team behind Free to Use Sounds. Our sound journey began back in 2017 in Cambodia, with an idea and a Zoom H1 recorder in hand, we set out to archive our very first sound recording. After 26 countries (and counting), thousands of recordings later, we're still "on the road" recordings sounds while traveling the world full-time. Now with state-of-the-

art recording equipment, we’re able to provide much-needed high-quality affordable sound libraries that we provide to people all around the world! Not only are we recording we're also creating content to help you get started on your own sound journey! Here on Facebook, YouTube, & Instagram, we become an inspiration for others to pick up a recorder and start capturing! Da Nang Vietnam 10 years later!!!

In 2016, Libby and Kiril had an interesting conversation about using sound effects in travel videos.

A few months later, while Libby was editing a video, she remembered that conversation and said, "I wish I had some pigeon wing sound effects to enhance these visuals."

With a Zoom H1 in hand, I went out searching for pigeons. I never found the pigeons, but that moment sparked what you see today.

If we had never met Kiril in Da Nang in 2016, Free To Use Sounds might never have happened.

Travel changes how we see the world, conversations can change everything!

Fritz says hello from Bangkok! 🇹🇭

Definitely a very different soundscape compared to just a couple of days ago in Australia. Using and recording with Fritz, the Neumann KU 100 binaural head, has been a fun experience so far and has probably led to more conversations than actual sound recordings. :)

The audio quality is absolutely outstanding in my humble opinion, and it’s such a fun and completely new way for us to record this city compared to anything we’ve done before. Lets not talk about the weight :)

The humidity here is pretty intense right now though, so we’ll probably wait for slightly better conditions before heading out to record Bangkok properly in 3D. :)

What’s it like being the founders of Free To Use Sounds?

For us, it created a life we truly enjoy living. A life where we can slow down when we want to, or pick up speed and travel the world, without constantly feeling rushed or stressed.

We both stopped treating travel like an escape and turned it into a life.

And if we can do it, you can do it too.

We’re not going down the ASMR route, and we’re definitely not here to fix your algorithm, but the audio we’re recording with the Neumann KU 100 is something else. Use your headphones for this one.

This week marks 11 years of traveling the world.

When you tell someone you traveled for a year, you will get a reaction. When you tell them it has been 11 years, you get a reaction too, but the difference between one year and eleven is hard to truly understand.

Because it is not just time, it is everything that comes with it. The changes we have made, the lessons we have learned, and the things we have discovered along the way have shaped this into a lifestyle that is not only possible but something we can truly sustain. None of this happened overnight. It is all part of a compounding process where one step leads to another. And somewhere along the way, this stopped being a trip and became our life.

For 9 of those years, we have been out there recording sounds, and it all started with a $100 Zoom H1.

Over the years, we have seen many people come and go in this space. Some stopped, some disappeared, some gave up when success didn’t come fast enough. We didn’t.

Free To Use Sounds keeps going, keeps growing, no matter what.

And now, with Fritz in our backpack, it feels like a whole new chapter.
A chapter we can keep living for the rest of our lives.
