Cosmic Picture is thrilled to announce that internationally celebrated actor Keegan-Michael Key, will narrate and appear in the new giant screen film, Einstein’s Incredible Universe, coming to IMAX® and giant screens in museums and science centers Spring of 2027.

“Keegan has long been one of my comedic heroes,” confessed writer/director Daniel Ferguson (Jerusalem, Superpower Dogs). “I had a blast working with him and he definitely brings the fun. Einstein had a great sense of humor and play. I want people to see that he wasn’t just an austere genius with all the answers. He was someone who loved puzzles and mysteries. The questions he asked, even as a boy, challenged our assumptions and eventually changed our understanding of reality.”

Today is the International Day For Disaster Risk Reduction, which focuses on how we can better adapt to, prepare for, and protect our communities from the growing threats of natural hazards.

In Extreme Weather, audiences go behind the scenes with the fearless scientists and first responders working on the front lines of our changing planet. Today marks the observance of Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. Filming the IMAX® film Jerusalem, which was just this year inducted into the IMAX® Hall of Fame, allowed the Cosmic Picture team unprecedented access to document how ancient traditions seamlessly breathe through the modern, diverse cultural melting pot of the Old City.

Celebrating the High Holy Days in Jerusalem underscored the universal human desire for renewal, forgiveness, and reconciliation. We are proud to share stories that foster cultural understanding and lifelong learning. Wishing all of our partners, colleagues, and viewers observing around the world a meaningful, reflective, and peaceful Yom Kippur.

Let’s talk about film cameras. There are many different cameras that can be used for practical reasons like tight spaces, weight restrictions for crew members, and budget. Different cameras can also provide unique narrative tones and blend aesthetics.

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey made cinematic history as the first feature film shot entirely with IMAX® 15-perf/65mm film cameras. A lighter and quieter camera, named the Keighley (named after longtime executive at IMAX and the company’s chief quality officer), was developed to make recording direct sync sound dialogue easier. 7 different IMAX® film cameras were used throughout the production to handle all of the different types of sequences.

But did you know that 15perf/65mm cameras have been used since 1970 to produce experiential art films and documentaries entirely on 1570 - since the first IMAX® film Tiger Child was released?

The behind-the-scenes photo above shows the MSM 9802 65mm film camera used on the IMAX® / giant screen film Jerusalem. These unique large format film cameras use 15 perforation 65mm wide film negative (roughly 3.5 times larger than standard 35mm film), which is printed onto 70mm film for theatrical projection on screens often 80 feet high and 100 ft wide, allowing for exceptional detail, clarity and depth.

Around 40 theaters in the world can project The Odyssey in 1570mm, the way Nolan intended. Have you seen The Odyssey in its native format? Did you see Jerusalem in its native format?
