Saving the planet might seem overwhelming until you think that if each of us just made one small change, the combined effect across the globe could be incredible. Let's build on Jane Goodall's legacy of conservation together. We'll start with an idea. Then let us know some of your ideas in the comments.
How about starting a home garden? It's easier than you might think. The key is knowing your garden spot and your skill level. Container gardens are a fantastic way to start as you have a lot of control over the soil. And if you’ve never gardened before, choose easy to maintain plants like herbs, peppers, tomatoes or leafy greens.
Gardens are a fun way to relax and something that can be enjoyed by the whole family. They allow you to lower food waste by only picking what you will eat. They allow you to lower your carbon footprint by buying less produce at the store that comes in plastic wrapping or containers, and which might have been shipped across the country in refrigerated trucks.
And if you find yourself with too much of something, find a local food pantry or similar organization that accepts fresh food donations for those in need.
