Hotel/Cabin/Tent decks

Hiking to Ice Lake Basin feels like walking into a postcard that somehow got more beautiful in real life.

The trail begins near South Mineral Campground and climbs relentlessly through aspen and conifer forests, past cascading waterfalls, then opens into the Lower Basin — a wide meadow carpeted in wildflowers with black cliffs and waterfalls cascading down the walls. From there the path steepens dramatically for the final push into the Upper Basin.

At the top sits Ice Lake — that famous glacial-flour turquoise water that looks almost artificial, surrounded by jagged 13ers.

Side trips to Island Lake (with its little rocky island) and Fuller Lake are possible (if you still have the energy).
