Latest image for the 14ers project. It's been such a terribly rainy spring that I haven't been able to photograph the sky in months. So when a partly cloudy forecast for Rocky Mountain National park appeared on a new moon... we knew we had to go.
This is the view from a bluff above Nymph lake. We weren't the only photographers in the park that night... I glad I made the climb to be a little ways off the beaten path.

Making the most of the late season Orion time. Even with a 70% moon rising at 1 am we still have about an hour with Orion after the sun is out of the way. This image shows Mt Serman, a high mountain summit in the Mosquito Range of the Rocky Mountains of North America. The 14,043-foot (4,280 m) fourteener is located 6.8 miles (11.0 km) east by south (bearing103°) of the City of Leadville, Colorado, United States, on the drainage divide separating Lake Countyfrom Park County. The mountain was named in honor of General William Tecumseh Sherman.
It took a little hike above an unplowed road on an ancient mountain to get to this view... That hike was unexpected and almost made me too late to the party. Thankfully I was able to set up quickly and capture these images before the stars dipped too low.
All of the images are taken from the same location and are the same settings.

The 1st peak I photographed on the 1st night of my 14ers project.
Again, with all the clouds, scouting this peak was really challenging. It took a bit of driving around in the dark. Thankfully I found this open field just to the south east of the peak so it gave me a really nice view of the mountain with Andromeda and the Cygnus region.
Mt. Princeton Highest point 14,204 ft (4327.25 m)
Mount Princeton is a high and prominent mountain summit of the Collegiate Peaks in the Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains of North America. The 14,204 feet (4,329 m) fourteener is located in San Isabel National Forest, 7.8 miles (12.6 km) southwest of the Town of Buena Vista in Chaffee County, Colorado, United States. The mountain was named in honor of Princeton University.
WHILE NOT ONE OF THE HIGHEST PEAKS OF THE SAWATCH RANGE, MOUNT PRINCETON IS ONE OF THE MOST DRAMATIC, ABRUPTLY RISING NEARLY 7,000 FEET ABOVE THE ARKANSAS RIVER VALLEY IN ONLY 6 MILES.

The first recorded ascent was on July 17, 1877, at 12:30 pm by William Libbey of Princeton University. It is likely that various miners had climbed the peak earlier. The name Mount Princeton was in use as early as 1873, and the peak was most likely named by Henry Gannett, a Harvard graduate and chief topographer in a government survey led by George M. Wheeler

The entire month of January has had either the moon or clouds in the sky. I've done plenty of scouting but haven't been able to actually start the 14ers project.

One more black bear photo for now. It was so much fun to see this momma bear protect her littles. She wasn’t scary, or aggressive towards us, but she used her surroundings and they’re ability to climb trees to keep her family safe.

Found some more amazing creatures today, but for now it’s all about the baby bears. We got the privilege of watching this little family play in the forest for about 10 minutes …. Before the other primate showed up.

Who knows what kind of flower this is??

This is going to be a bit of s different series. I took my 2 spectrum modified rp from out during the day. The mood seems to pick up so more intense colors than a traditional sensor but it does take some processing to bring it out. Swipe to see the raw image.
I got my white balance by shooting an 18% gray card and seeing a custom wb in camera then I used that gray card to set the wb in lightroom and synced the images.
