Through Artivate's presenter evaluations, we've learned that 40% of presenters cite budget as a determining factor in their program choices. We encourage all presenters to research and seek funding from outside sources, but most have geographic eligibility limitations.

The Artivate Arts in Education Fund will provide extra support to all of the communities in the region, regardless of their geographic location.

The Catalogue for Philanthropy: Greater Washington asked DC area nonprofits..."What is your vision for abundance in this city?" Check out Artivate's vision and the vision of several other area nonprofits at: https://www.cfp-dc.org/blog/2022/07/26/what-is-our-vision-for-abundance-in-this-city/

What's your vision for abundance in your community?

The dominant narrative of our current economic and political systems centers on scarcity. adrienne maree brown wrote in YES! Magazine that "We are living in an age of immense interlocking crises, from climate to pandemic to race. Although there are massive opportunities to grow and change... erotic power, happiness, and satisfaction are not words I would use to describe our current collective state."

In our latest piece on cultivating an abundance mindset, we lead with some of our nonprofit partners whose missions and work allow our local communities to flourish. We encourage you to engage in their visions and efforts -- read this piece and find links to them & more at: https://www.cfp-dc.org/blog/2022/07/26/what-is-our-vision-for-abundance-in-this-city/

As you read, consider these questions -- What is your own vision for abundance in this city’s present and future? How might you share this with others and be part of a larger ecosystem?

(Thanks to our partners: Artivate, Young Playwrights' Theater, Shepherd's Table, Common Good City Farm, Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, and DC Greens)

As another fiscal year comes to a close for Artivate, we’re excited to share our progress as our new normal comes into view. Working closely with our artists and our programming partners this past year, we’ve been able to deliver – as of today – 398 individual performances and workshops. These programs took place virtually and in-person at schools, libraries, summer camps, and many other community settings, across 17 counties, to more than 37,450 audience members.

Claire Marcil Schwadron started her career at Artivate as an outreach coordinator back in 2000, when we were known as Class Acts Arts.

In 2003, Claire became Director of Project Youth ArtReach (PYA), our core program focused on providing visual, performing, and literary arts opportunities for teens and adults inside detention centers. During her tenure, Claire has become a national leader and innovator in arts-in-corrections, expanding PYA programs across Maryland, creating a model for culturally and artistically diverse workshops and community collaborations inside correctional facilities.

Claire became Artivate’s fourth executive director in March 2020 and worked tirelessly to assure that Artivate remained an asset to the community, despite the massive challenge presented to all of us with the COVID-19 pandemic. She was instrumental in transitioning Artivate - and our artists - into the virtual space when in-person programs were not available to our audiences.

This month, Claire's tenure comes to a close as she retires from Artivate. Please join us in celebrating Claire by leaving a message, a photo, or a video on Claire's virtual group card at www.kudoboard.com/boards/zfCHeoij.
